Should we go after him this offseason if things don't go as planned with Stotts? He wants to coach again and I think would be interested in the Portland job.

No...Not George. His health would concern me. But I love to see him take a seat next to Terry as a lead assistant/defensive coordinator.

Wasn't this guy Nate's predecessor? I thought everyone was sick of Nate's crappy brand of coaching, even if he was a stand up super professional guy. Why does everyone hate on Stotts so much? He seems to be pretty decent so far, and I think given a better team he could be a pretty decent coach, lets give him a chance.

I do think he coached Nate but George Karl has shown an ability to change up his offense and an ability to adapt as a coach, at least when it comes to the regular season. He hasn't had much success in the playoffs since Denvers trip to the conference finals but post season success shouldn't be what makes or breaks a coach for us.

i'm fine with giving Stotts some more time but if we are once again one of the worst defensive teams in the league or just plain flat suck then it might be time to look at another coach.

I'd love to have him as coach but we have a good coach as it is. Why jettison Stotts for Carl? Makes no sense to me.

Nah not Karl. He would just get us the best record in the league and we would get swept in the first round

Karl's a guaranteed winner, but not a champion. He would boost us to 50 wins every year. That's good enough for me.

His system is exciting, unorthodox, and ignores some fundamentals necessary for a championship. McMillan's style is a pale imitation, a weak hybrid of what he learned under Bernie Bickerstaff, K.C. Jones, and Karl.

So whats BIll Fitch than?

Karl is like a Nate that plays fast. Same coaching flaws though, pass.

Bill Fitch is all fundamentals. As the Bible says,

To everything, turn, turn, turn
There is a purpose, turn, turn, turn
A time for Kemp's tricks
A time for slow pace
A time for funnn-da-men-en-ennnnntals.
(repeat)

Well Portland could have had Karl twice already right? This will be our third chance to get him. Maybe that means it's really meant to be or maybe it's not..

George Karl has coached 25 years in the NBA. Made the playoffs 23 times. Lost in the first round 14 times.

No thanks

Who is also a guaranteed winner but not a champion
Due to inferior rosters, not inferior coaching.
You can't simply measure everything in championships. If you do, then apparently Doc Rivers is a better coach than Sloan.
However, with Karl I think we've all seen enough to know that, unless he gets an exceptionally talented roster, he's not going to win a championship. If the opponent has a better roster OR better coaching they will beat Karl. The only way Karl might win a championship is by having the best roster in the league. Sloan, OTOH, could coach an inferior team past a better roster. But unfortunately for him, when he had rosters that could compete for a title there were always juggernauts standing in the way.

I think it's your opinion and are throwing out baseless facts to prove some weird theory of yours

So agree to disagree. Both are about the same, IMO

Fucking shit - do we always have to explicitly state when our comments are opinions? Where are these "baseless facts" that are "proving" a "theory". Fucking fuck.
Yeah, it's MY opinion that Sloan is a better coach than Karl. And it's a whole lot of other peoples opinion too. You don't agree? Fine.

I just can't help but wonder why you think

This is all true, of course, only until he wins his first championship.

Coby will take Barton's spot because he's better. I want George so we can get Coby.
