Yeah, he's a bit of a knucklehead but he REALLY needs to be on a team with a lot of vets that will keep him in check. He's on the youngest team in the NBA and he's running amok.

He could be a monster if some team could harness him and get him on the right path.

::edit:: According to their coach, DeMarcus demanded a trade.

I said he'd be a headache before he was drafted. He's been that and more.

Stay away from this loser

Maybe in the off season but the chemistry on this team is too good to bring that knucklehead on this season.

if he can be had for nothing, you swoop, talent is talent.

likely not the case

Westphal absolutely destroyed Cousins' trade value by announcing the demand to the media. WTF. Why would you do that?

He's a coach with a young team. You do what's best for the players who want to play and show them that you're in charge. Trade value is something you let the GM worry about.

DeMarcus has all the tools to be a great fit with LaMarcus.

Has an array of post moves.

Mid-range jumper.

High-post passer.

The tools are there but just hasn't put it together yet. He's 21 years old, 6'11" 270 lb. C, how can you not want to at least take a flyer on him?

Though, to have a chance I think you have to at least pony up Batum.

That's fine. Sending him home and keeping quiet about it is one thing. Airing it out to the public is another.

He just crippled that franchise because they won't get anything more than a late pick for him now. They have 0 leverage.

Even if he's just coach, he has to look at the future of the organization a bit.

He's also a bit screwy in the head. Although, we do have some veteran pieces that would put him in his place if he acts up.

Oh, and he's got a horrible FG% for a big man.

I'd give up our pick and Craig Smith for him. Max. I don't think it would take Batum to get him.

Derrick Coleman is now suing people who compare Cousins to him. People criticizing Beasley say "at least he's no Demarcus Cousins". Sean Williams is currently a saner and more productive NBA player than Demarcus Cousins.

I imagine he'd want to start. A guy like that wouldn't want to come off the bench.

He probably also wants lots of playing time, fame, a winning record, a big market, and to get paid big bucks.

Statement From Kings Head Coach Paul Westphal

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Jan. 1, 2012 --

“Whenever a new season begins, in any sport, there is great hope that everything will progress in only a steady, upward direction. As we all know, it seldom happens like that in this life!

As coaches, we can only ask that our players do everything they can to improve themselves as individuals and teammates. If they do this with all their hearts, we live with the results.

Everything that happens on a team does not become known to the public. This is how it should be. However, when a player continually, aggressively, lets it be known that he is unwilling/unable to embrace traveling in the same direction as his team, it cannot be ignored indefinitely.

DeMarcus Cousins has demanded to be traded. In the best interest of our team as we go forward, he has been directed by me, with the support of management, to stay home from the New Orleans game tonight.”

Mixum was no DeMarcus Cousins. You want a DeMarcus Cousins, you already got ME.

(We shouldn't utter that name. I'll save the moderator the work.)

Obviously, Westphal said the guy wants to be traded to allay home front criticism of Westphal that he mishandled him. This will silence team fans on Cousins' side. He probably has a lot of cousins, or why else would he have that name.

i just checked out his stats, how can a big shoot 4.30 on the season? i have to say, i havent seen him play for more than 40 minutes or so, does he just jack up 18 footers all game? i always figured he was a down low kinda guy, looking at 82games he shot jumpers on 61% of his shots? wtf

Mixum is now Demarcus Cousins? Awesome. I've been posting here 2 months and noticed mixum has been connected to about 10 different posters. Who the fuck is mixum?!?

How would we realistically get cousins??? Not gonna happen. Not to mention we already had a wack job in sheed. U really think they would add cousins??

There are other factors as to why you should really consider Cousins:

-Marcus Camby is 38 years old
-Greg Oden is... yeah, I really don't have to say much here.
-You look at the bigs in college and then you take a look at Scout.com's HS rankings and you'll realize there isn't a center prospect out there outside of Drummond that even comes close to DeMarcus.
-Indiana is not going to give up Hibbert. Chicago is not going to give up Noah or Asik. There aren't many available.

If Cousins' talent could be harness he'd be a major force in the league. He's such a headcase though and that's probably not going to change. If we could get him for fairly cheap I think it'd be a great move. McMillan and all the vets on the team wouldn't put up with his shit. I think he projects to be similar to Bynum. Bynum is an asshole too but he's like a tamed version of Cousins.

Is there any way we could get him for Babbitt and Armon? How about a homecoming spin on this? Isn't Nevada close to the Bay Area?

A knucklhead is always a knucklehead. Cousins on his rookie contract is fine I suppose, but the real test will come when he gets a veteran contract and actually makes some real NBA money.

A guy acting like an idiot on a rookie deal tells me he has some serious issues, and is probably going to be a troublemaker his entire career.

Holy shit. Is this real? It's honestly an offer anything and everything but Aldridge. Cousins is a dumb ass, but a super talented one that makes us better on the court

You know, as I read this I started thinking about guys that haven't followed that scenario, but couldn't off the top of my head.

We have young, cheap talent that would fit salary wise. Babbit, Elliot Williams and Armon Johnson. We're not using any of them - AT ALL.

I know Cousins's value is shot, but trading him for guys like Babbitt and Armon is nothing more than a salary dump. I'm sure they can get more.
