After the game last night, Mo said he wanted to move up in the standings. I was surprised because I had given up on that. So I looked at the possibilities. Houston is probably uncatchable because they have the tie breaker. The Clippers are another story. They are losing to Houston right now. If they lose that one and then 3 of their next 7 (say to Phoenix, Dallas, and OKC), and we win all the rest of our games, we would win the 4th seed with a win over the Clippers on closing night. It's a longshot but it's possible. 6 of our last 8 are at home. The two road games are against the woeful Jazz and Lakers.

The Blazers win the rest of their games. It's very possible. And it could be their mindset.

Isn't Houston more "catchable" without Beverly and Howard for the last 10 games?

I highly doubt this is going to happen. Lets beat Memphis first.

I guess. The problem is we don't play them again and we don't have the tiebreaker (which is why games earlier in the season matter. We need to win out and hope the Rockets lose 5 games. In the case of the Clippers, we have control over on of their losses.

I'd love to catch Houston but we have to go 8-0 to catch them IMO. The Rockets have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way even without Beverly and Howard. I think they finish at least 6-4 or 7-3 to close the season and that puts us out of HCA. We have no shot at catching the Clippers unless Griffin and CP3 break their legs within the next 10 minutes.

In therey the bottom 4 teams are the ones that should get HCA but then every single team would be tanking.

Portland just needs to worry about making the playoffs. I think the gap is too big now to jump up to 4. Houston has 4 less losses than us and not sure who has the tie breaker.

Houston has the tie breaker.

No way we get HCA in the 1st round. We just need to focus on playing well.

What I want more than seeding is for us to finish the season strong. If we can win out, then NO ONE will want to play us, and we won't fear anyone.

Ya'll forgetting we still have to play GS and LAC? lol. I'd love to win out, but the chances are really slim.

Bingo. No team in the West will be an easy out, regardless of HCA. But this team can win against any of them, on anybody's court, when their game is on. I'm less concerned about matchups and seeds at this point, and more concerned about physical and mental health.

At home. We are simply better than GS, and we're at least equal to the Clippers. We had the Clippers beat in LA before the all-star break until we started chucking up ridiculous shots in the last two minutes.
