The situation:
My father is 70 years old and has two main medical issues causing him chronic pain. Due to one of those issues, his doctors recommend that he give up wine (all alcohol) which has been a major staple in his daily routine for years. For those wondering, he is not an alcoholic in my eyes, he has about 2 glasses a night and suffers no side effects when he stops drinking which he does often while traveling and trekking around the world.
My dad has not purchased pot since the sixties but will very occasionally (1-2 times a year) smoke with his friends. He likes the idea of being able to use marijuana both to reduce pain in the evening and also to partially replace the relaxation he got from his wine. He got in a very bad accident a year ago and has large prescriptions of pain killers but he does not like the way they affect him.
Now:
My father asked me to help him find out about getting a MM card and also learn about what he should get.
I have gone online and figured out how to get the card and my father has made an appointment with his pain specialist doctor, and hopefully he will sign the required document. Otherwise, we will make an appointment at a marijuana clinic.
Questions:
My father does not like the act of smoking and would love another method of using pot. What are your recommendations? What about a vaporizer, is that something that would be beneficial for someone with a chronic cough?
I know there are two main types of pot, indica and sativa, which would be best for pain? which would be best for relaxation? are there specific strains that you would recommend?
Which pot stores have you been to and would you suggest?
Thanks
