OT Getting rid of a car

I'll probably do a tranny fluid exchange to see if that does anything.

Is there a secluded lake you can drive it into?

Now you come to the real problem of donating it. You end up fixing it first too or you feel like an asshole.
Sell it don't work out much better though.

I had a Jeep Cherokee I no longer wanted. So I put it up for sale, like $3000 or so.
He comes a young woman, maybe 2o, early 20s anyway. Two little kids and dad is in Afghanistan.
She only had 800 buck and no wheels to get to work. Fuck! I ended up putting new breaks on the damn thing too.
I couldn't let here drive that thing away with those kids until it was fixed.

Not in Portland. I just donated a 2000whatever BMW to OPB. Didn't run. They towed it out. Easy peasy.

What's the best way to get rid of an old beater car. Its a 2004 Mazda6 with 190k miles...needs some work, I mean it runs, but the AC is broken, needs struts, oil leak, needs engine mounts, transmission slips, etc. I stopped taking care of it like 20-30k miles ago, just doing oil changes until it was gonna fall apart (no major repairs).

Should I even entertain trying to sell it? Or donate it. Seems donating is less hassle. Maybe I can sell it for like a grand and then I'd have a grand. who knows.

Rent a sawzall, make the car a convertible, drive it until it falls apart, report it stolen, file an insurance claim, profit.

Here in Bellingham, the Fire Department practices on old cars. That's what happened to my last car. Ask your fire department nihilists to take her away. It would be useful in a divorce. After they cart her off, you'd have the car to yourself.

You should burn it. I thought you liked burning things down to the ground.

Don't change the trans fluid if it looks nasty. All the clutch material is probably floating in it.

IF it barely slips could be a sticky valve or something. Try some Seafoam Transtune

Transmission Dipstick is clean which is weird since i dont remember when i changed the fluid kast

I dont want to flush just a straight fluid exchange and filter. Read you shouldn't flush not well maintained systems since all the crud gets flushed out and damages shit.

I am thinking filter is clogged

If the fluid looks good and it slips it probably just has worn clutches. If not then I'd think a sticky spool valve. Pour the trans tune in and drive it for a few weeks and then change the fluid.

I'll probably do this. On colder mornings it took a minute or two to even shift out of first

That sounds more like sticky valves than bad clutches. Cross your fingers. My yellow focus steering would stick until warmed up and I poured some of that stuff in it and it fixed it in a few days. Then I changed the fluid. It is fine now.

I was looking around. Eventually i may Seafoam the intake for shits and giggles. Will try out the transmission and gas additive first
