Giannis & Dame?

we don't
he's signed a long term deal with the bucks, so, they'd have to trade him, which they won't.
Why not? They can’t break through and they’ve lost all their picks. Giannis could demand trade like everyone else does nowadays.

no star gets traded while they’re under contract for years.
Who is the last player that was trade that wasn’t at least in the second to last year of their deal. It’s always towards the end because they leverage that they are leaving regardless and you better get something for that player as early as possible

Of the top of my head, Chris Paul got traded a year after signing with Rockets.

He'd have to be a real shit to demand a trade so soon after re-signing.

You can add Blake Griffin to that list.
Yep. Good one. He was trade with a few months after inking the deal. What about Paul George too? He demanded out only one year after re-signing with them.

Not lookin like a horrible contract right now.

Dude is looking to re-sign for only $25m per year the next 3 years for his next contract. If his current one isn’t looking horrible right now, are you giving him that next deal?

Blake and CP3 were both traded after their franchises realized the mistake in signing them to those deals. Blake ended up being traded for only Bradley, Tobias, Boban, and a 1st. CP3 took four 1sts to move.

PG situation was the only one where they performed up to their contract and was able to leave after year 1. It wasn’t like PG demanded a trade to go with Kawhi to Charlotte or Memphis, he demanded a trade to team with Kawhi because of LA lol. If Kawhi didn’t hit him up, we don’t even know if he would demand a trade. Would’ve still been very possible considering what happened in the playoffs that year, but again, you didn’t hear anything about the trade request until after the trade happened. Maybe it took PG requesting the trade for OKC to re-evaluate where they were so that triggered the whole rebuild. If he didn’t maybe they’d still be here fighting for 8th seeds in the west lol

I think before people post “how to get superstar player A” scenarios, they should ask if Portland would take that deal for Dame

It's way more possible Dame goes to Milwaukee than Giannis coming to Portland. Both very unlikely though.
Bucks can wait a bit more Giannis is 26. Dame is 30. He surely sees his prime will soon be over. Also Olshey knows that this or next year are peak Dame value.

2 number 2 guys, that won't work imo.

2 guys who have not done much, save Giannis 2 MVPs, but in terms of winning....

Dame has a 36% playoff win percentage.

Could Giannis bump that up? Sure, however, I am over Dame.

Chris Broussard (Or however you spell his name) said Giannis needs a Kyrie or Wade type of guy to win it all on the Colin Herd show today. I agree, you need an accomplished guy beside Giannis. I am not trying have 2 guys who really have not went anywhere on the same team. Kyrie and Wade are proven to work, or win titles if you put another superstar beside them.

Bron all but begged to get Kyrie to LA, we now see why...

It was reported PG was Kawhi's 2nd option, Kyrie was his 1st....we seen why.

We don't know how Dame's game will translate not being able to shoot 20 plus times every night, or handle the ball 90% of the every night. I would rather have a proven guy like Bron, KD, Kawhi, Kyrie, etc in Portland. Just being hypothetical. Putting 2 superstars together does not guarantee a ring; this aint 2k. Guys like Kyrie and Curry works, because they are highly efficient over their careers. 50 40 90 club guys, that is why.

In order to win, we gotta get rid of Dame, because he does not attract superstars. Superstars want to play with other champions, winning superstars. We just need to bring in 1...just ONE champion superstar here, and the chips will fall in place (Pun intended).

That's asinine. Charles Barkley is the only superstar who ever came out and said, "i want to be traded to Portland". But the Blazers failed to engage. You under estimate Dame.

Hey Blazerreynolds, you need a picture with a porn stache.

Dame & Giannis? Perhaps the question should be "Dame for Giannis?" If CJ's value is in fact low around the league, is it possible that CJ+Giannis is better than any Dame+_______ pairing we could reasonably obtain via a CJ deal?

This is the elephant in the room...Dame brings the most value in any trade we can dream up....there'd be riots in Portland if we traded him though

If it was for Giannis I don't know if there would be any riots.

Trade Dame for the Greek Freak and our rotation could be CJ, Norm, RoCo, Giannis, Nurk, DJ, Ant, Nas, Zach... add a PG for the MLE and we have a contender. I would never do that trade if I was the Blazers because I'm too emotionally attached to Dame and really just want to do whatever it takes to build a contender around him. That being said, it's a real GM's job not to be a fan and not to be emotionally attached.

The good news is I doubt the deal is on the table, so we should get what we can for CJ that fits the best around Dame and make a real attempt at being a contender for this team and for Dame.

Edit: For the record, if we could get Giannis for Dame straight up. I would then actually see if I could get Brogdon and Turner from Indy for CJ, Nurk and as many future draft picks as it would take.

Totally rebuilt Blazers... Brogdon, Norm, RoCo, Giannis, Turner, Ant, DJ, Nas, Zach
