Gilles Simon beat fourth-seeded Victor Troicki of Serbia 7-5, 7-6 (4) in the final of the Sydney International for his eighth career title Saturday.
It was the second title in three months for unseeded Simon, who could face Roger Federer in the second round of the Australian Open next week.
