You keep bringing this German kid up like he's the second coming of Mo Rivera. I still would have preferred to keep Prado & Greene.
Never even hinted at German being the second coming of Mo or any other star pitcher for that matter. I brought his name up when the trade was first made as he wasn't mentioned by a couple of media outlets when the deal was first reported.
I described him (post12) as a "good young arm".
He's 22 yrs old, has a 2.33 ERA, 1.15 WHIP in "A" starting as a 17 yr old.
Last year made 25 starts had a 2.48 ERA , 1.14 WHIP.
What would you call him, a "throw in", "a prospect"., no future?...okay whatever.
And I also liked what I saw from Greene last year and was wasn't thrilled to see him go but he went in the Gregorius acquisition and that is another matter.....it's done.
Has Greene become some kind of safe bet or gaurantee to become a top flight SP or at least better than Eovaldi will do as a Yankee? Okay, fine. Maybe, maybe not?
Speaking of Eovaldi and Greene----- Eovaldi is actually a yr younger.
I said (post 12) :
Yanks made the trade and believe he is still an incomplete young pitcher who has good stuff who can be helped (matures) into taking the next step to become a solid pitcher.
I know it's not popular, but I'm going to wait on this one to evaluate if the Yanks (Cashman) made a good or bad deal...at least for one year of Eovaldi in pinstripes.
Maybe I should've just said having a change of scenery might help him. lol
