Given that we're going to suck, what's your backup team?

I suspect it will be the Bucks for a lot of people, but I actually find myself liking the Bucks less now. And I also don't think they're going to win it all, and in fact I can see them not even making the Finals.

Obviously I will be watching the Spurs, at least until Wemby gets injured, but other than that, I find OKC strangely intriguing. They have three great young players (is Shai still young?) all of whom have very unconventional games, surrounded by some really good role players. I sort of wonder if Presti doesn't have a literal mental disorder with the way he hoards picks, but if he doesn't, I really hope he cashes in some of his ridiculous war chest at the trade deadline and really goes for it this season, as I think they could genuinely win the West with a bit of good fortune.

I won't have a 2nd team, per se. But I feel like there's been a huge infusion of very talented young players over the past few years that it seems like almost every team has a few guys I'll at least be box score checking out.

Not sure. Many interesting storylines in the NBA this year. I am not usually a Boston fan, but I like Jrue Holiday, Portland's last all-star guard and I like Joe Mazzulla, so will likely watch more Boston games than normal. OKC is super interesting as well. I know we are all going gaga for Wemby, so looking for the underdog story, Chet is super interesting.

Oh I enjoy ORL, OKC too. The combo of Banchero and the Franz Bros is awesome

Milwaukee, Dallas, Denver, Nets are all fun and contending or at least playoff bound. I will watch with horror and envy, what Wemby is doing down in SAS. Praying he somehow doesn't block Scoot and Sharpe for their entire prime. He looks that good if he can stay healthy. Insane people were saying Chamberlain with a 3pt shot and the ability to drive, and that seemed like a reach. Now seeing just pre-season he basically looks like he would put up Chamberlain numbers if he's playing say 40 minutes a game (which at his age he could not that Pops would of course) with the aforementioned 3's and driving ability. So the Spurs will be on my list, or I am at least watching all the Wemby highlights I mean DEAR GOD!

Just curious speaking of Dallas, would you trade Scoot and assets (say 3-4 firsts) for Luka if he became available this summer? Seems like you have to say yes to that. I feel like a back court of Luka and Sharpe would be insanity and that both Sharpe and Ayton would benefit from Luka's lobs and insane dimes. The nice thing is, that's not even a bad offer from us. Obviously we have to get the eternal Sword of Olshey-Damocles to stop hanging over our head and trade Chicago to get our 1st back and then package the GSW 1st and 3 of ours and throw in swaps (even MIL swaps) if need be.

See that's what is so beautiful about our reboot here. We can jump timelines and retain talent now. We went from Olshey's Stalin-esque rations and long term hindrances (Chicago pick and some of the contracts we are STILL paying), to the fullest of cupboards almost overnight.

I guess I plan on enjoying other aspects of life while enjoying watching the development of the Blazers...Somehow seems more enjoyable than seeking reasons to be miserable. Different strokes for different folks.
That is my M.O. as well. Don't need backup teams. I'm going to enjoy this rebuild.

My kids are born and raised down here, they are Blazers fans, but Suns are a strong second so I get them by default since the get the Blazers by default.

Seems like you manage it without reasons.

I was lobbying like crazy to trade up to draft Luka... but he's kind of a whiney bitch and now I hate him as much as any NBA player. So no.

I probably will follow the team that has the biggest dreams, spent the most money, for the worst luck.

I have 3 daughters who play year round. I barely have time to watch the Blazers.

No backup team.

The Raiders, so sports is gonna be real rough for me for awhile.

I don't expect the Blazers to win a lot, but thats never stopped me from watching before including the last few hopeless seasons. I'm really looking forward to seeing the young guys flash even though I'm expecting them to struggle overall.

I get the pass and acclimate to the league checking out teams/players for my fantasy league interests. There are so many intriguing situations right now I'm geeked out like a kid on Christmas eve. I root for Portland but like all the other teams unless they play boring hero ball (Mavs) or are the Lakers.

So... you don't actually like Basketball?

That's why we watch our favorite college basketball team. But no I have to go with MM on this, I may root for a player on another team, and I may root for a playoff series to go 7, but I generally enjoy the playoffs by rooting for teams like the Lakers...... to lose. Never for another another city to win. Fuck them all.

We're all supposed to say Seahawks to make Jody Allen happy. Of course, dancing around in spandex undies while collecting rare animal bones might also get you in the Vulcan VIP club.

I'll hate the Warriors the most, sick of their smug attitude and cockiness even before the last year. Add the GPII trade badmouthing, and owning their pick and it'll be fun to root against them. Wouldn't be surprised if they contend or miss the playin.

#2 team to root against is Miami, fuck them, their entitled fans, and delusional media.

Always root against the Lakers.

I don't like Irving and will root against Dallas. Will root against Bridges and Ja.

I'll be rooting for OKC, love the patient rebuild they've done. Bucks too, always have liked Giannis, they're small market underdog mentality.

Very eager to watch Wemby but I wouldn't consider myself a Spurs fan.

I like watching Jovic and Denver so may root for them.

I follow the whole league pretty closely and like to see who steps up, sometimes find myself randomly rooting for or against various teams. Right now I'm pretty indifferent to the rest of the league.
