Now that I live near Boston, and my kids are growing up here, it’s going to be hard not to have them as my backup team. Will also be watching Dame on the Bucks.

Really? It seems like living among Boston fans you would hate them even more. In every city I have ever moved to I ended up hating the home teams because of their annoying fans....and no fan base is more obnoxious than Boston fans. I must admit though I used to root for the Red Socks....until they won it all.

Ha, as long as I avoid Boston sports radio, the everyday Celtics fans seem fine. And I don’t care about the other sports. I also live an hour north up on the coast, so it’s probably less intense.

I spent 10 days touring NE with my wife one fall. None of it was actually in Boston. The Pats, Bruins, Celtics, and Socks were all playing. (Socks vs Dodgers in the WS) I needed a translator to understand what the hell they were saying in the various sports bars. It was like I was in a foreign country with that thick accent of theirs. Luckily I was rooting for the Dodgers to lose so I felt safe.

Outside of the Blazers for the NBA and NOT saying Bucks as a huge Dame fan that is a given -- I would say Spurs for Wemby

Also if you say Lakers your not a Blazer fan --- LOL -- kidding ( kind of )
 
I'll still be attending and doubtless watching most road games - but certainly won't be watching many games in which we aren't involved.

I didn't watch one playoff game the last two seasons for that very same reason.

Correct. I’ve said it several times, actually. I root for the Blazers because I love them, but the NBA is pretty unwatchable

That really doesn’t have anything to do with “backup teams” though. I LOVE hockey and football, and I would never root for another team than my favorite team.

If you are a fan of the NBA then great for you, but I am a fan of the Blazers

I wouldn't watch the Blazers if I didn't enjoy watching basketball. If the Blazers are playing, I root for them. If they aren't, and I have something I really should be doing, I look around for another team that either has players I like or is playing a team I hate.
 
Calling the season before it’s started is wild.

Seeing Rolo and Dame win a ring together would make me happy. If season is a wash then I will be rooting for the Bucks.
 
No backup team but teams I'll watch the most of (outside of the top teams)

Thunder (Daigneault is an elite coach on both ends, big Chet fan, so many high level decision makers, think they have a chance to be top 10 on both ends this year)
Spurs (for Wemby obviously, but big Zach, Vassell and Tre Jones fan, starting Sochan at PG should be interesting)
Wolves (good preseason vibes, big Conley and McDaniels fan)
Rockets (love amen, really like the mix of talent, Jabari looks like he's ready to make a real jump, off court shit aside Udoka is a really good coach)
Pacers (they play fast and play with great pace even in the half court, fun high scoring games most of the time)

Nuggets are my favorite top team to watch. That starting 5 is the most enjoyable unit to watch in basketball right now.

I won't root for another team. However, I'm not really going to focus on wins and losses (and it will be mostly losses). I am going to watch for individual performances, signs of growth from different players, and how our chemistry develops.

It's going to be a fun season, regardless of our record.
 
sadly my backup teams will likely suck too hahahhaha...


I've got my eye on the Pistons and the Magic in the east..


But I like watching over the rebuilds..
