Two things for me.
One, giving Nash much deserved credit. Not only is he putting the puck in the net, but on the game winner against Dallas, he went to the boards, dug the puck out, then went to the net where he scored an amazing goal. He also seems much more forceful in general the past few games.

Two, Rangers have been showing heart lately. Didnt' think they had it in them. Philly is a much larger and more physical team yet the Rangers didn't get pushed around. I still have doubts they can do that consistently, but will be hoping they can.
 
i think the moral of this story is that you don't give up on teams halfway through a season.
 
I don't think anyone is giving up on making the playoffs, but winning the cup this year? This team has some obvious flaws, and a 3 game winning streak doesn't change that. I'm just glad the last few games have been fun to watch.
 
No one was giving up 62. I think most people said, and I still believe BTW, no quick fix moves that may help this season but hurt us next season and the season after. That's my opinion, and still is. I can't think of many people on here who "gave up" with us maybe a few points out of a playoff spot. Of course we could and can still make the playoffs. No one would give up on that when we have always been right in the ballpark worst case. We just need to be smart now. I am not in favor of quick fix moves that hurt us the next two seasons.
 
That's why they should hope DZ raises his value in the next month so they can maybe deal him straight up for a forward or dman for the rest of this year to give them a punchers chance to win a few rounds+. If Colorado is willing to move Stastny and Barrie I'd send DZ, Miller and a midround pick. Then move Stepan to wing for the rest of the year.
 
It wasn't a matter of giving up. It was a matter of wanting a better product. If Lundqvist has turned the corner the team is much better and will win many more games just because of that. If Nash is going to lead the offense like he should they're much better as well. I don't believe they're a cup contender at this point because too many flaws still exist but there's no reason they shouldn't make the playoffs.
 
eh, Nash, Henrik et al were berated on this board through their struggles by many a poster, and now that they seem to have turned the corner i fully expect everyone to backpedal and say "huh? give up? no, i never did that, i always stuck by them and knew they'd get better".
 
Once again 31 way more hung up on battling other posters and trying to call out other posters than simply discussing the team together as fans. Another perfect example of what I was talking about last week. Stay above it people.

And I wasn't even one of the guys knocking Hank or saying we should even think about dealing Nash. Just find it funny how 31 operates is all.

Yea, that's pretty much my sentiment as well. He's not very good @ faceoffs, though.
 
I'm just suggesting it for the rest of this year if they traded for OReilly or Stastny. When Richards goes then put him back, but this year he's not really getting it done there for whatever reason. It's unlikely i agree but if a deal happens its an option since you have Brassard and Richards still.
 
im against moving a guy from position to position, screws them up...leave him as a centerman sink or swim
 
Fair enough, maybe he gets it together after the Olympic break. A bigger need probably is a scoring wing or pp dman anyways.
 
I don't see a PP dman as a need. We have the # 6 PP and it is clicking. With McDonagh's growth on O I think we are fine for now with the PP dman. I think a scoring winger and a big physical dman are more pressing needs.
 
I think a couple of big physical guys anywhere would be nice
 
What i'd like to see is acquire 2 top-6 forwards between now and start of next season.

Kreider - Acquisition - Nash
Acquisition - Stepan - Zucc
Pouliot - Brassard - Cally
Carcillo - Boyle - Dorsett

Obviously this means Hags is trade bait. While i like him, i don't think he's a top 6 forward nor physical enough to be on the 3rd line.
 
As I have said before.......Rangers will go as Nash, Kreider and Lundqvist go........They have all been really good lately. This team can be good if they play at a high level

31 those are not bad lines. I like Hags but size is impt. I am not looking to move him but I understand the thinking especially come playoffs. I do think he is a really good 3rd liner but you better have size elsewhere.
 
Their play this past week has been great. The level that we all want them to be at. Now its all about maintaining and consistency. If they are able to do this straight through to the Olympic break I think we can all put the idea of selling behind us. But if this turns out to be a two week thing and we go back to playing .500 hockey. Well, then theres no more reason to be excited.
 
There is a difference between giving up on the season and dumping players for values that give you a chance sooner than later at winning a cup. This team has still shown no ability to beat Boston or Pitt. So if people here suddenly think this team is a legit threat to come out of the East, they are on crack and most likely are drunk also.
 
31 you want to see Carcillo resigned? Jesus I hope we don't do that. McIlrath should make the team next year so I see no reason to resign carcillo when Dorsett and Mac will both be here. I expect the 4th line next year to be Boyle-Lindberg-Dorsett. I also expect Miller to make the team as a full time top 9 player.
 
eh, honestly i put Carcillo there as a filler. Don't care a whole lot about the 4th line when trying to project future rosters.
 
I usually don't either, except when Sather signs guys like Pyatt and Asham to multi-year deals. Hopefully he doesnt make that mistake again with Carcillo.
 
Carcillo is decent until the end of the year. Hopefully they sign the right depth players in FA and don't re-sign Boyle. Just looking over the FA list I see guys like Goc and Raymond who would be solid. Maybe Kristo or Lindberg make the team. Pouliot is a wildcard, if he shows he's consistent the rest of the season I'd give him another one year deal.
 
71 - but if Pouliot has a good 2nd half other teams might be willing to give him more than a 1yr and def more than the $1.3M. Pass if that's the case.
 
Definitely can't complain about Pouliot. He has produced and been great on PP. I would resign him now.
