Tech Global warming: greatest sham in science

Welcome to our community

I fail to see the significants of where I got the graph since the graph originated with NOAA. You know, showing an image in this site of something that is already on some site is easier than uploading an image to show it. So what the heck is your point?

By your own admission you didn't know where that graph came from when you posted it. If you wanted to use a NOAA graph then why not go to NOAA and use one of their graphs. Should I not be curious and question where data and information comes from?

Seems better since the US named them an endangered species. Far less hunting seems to be helping their overall numbers. Just not sure you're asking me this when I've never brought up polar bears and you could find these answers with a simple google search.
But but but, They were supposed to die off because of the polar caps melting?!??

'Global warming the greatest scam in history' claims founder of Weather Channel
THE debate about climate change is finished - because it has been categorically proved NOT to exist, one of the world's best known climate change sceptic has claimed.

Climate change has been 'disproved' and polar ice is 'increasing'
John Coleman, who co-founded the Weather Channel, shocked academics by insisting the theory of man-made climate change was no longer scientifically credible.

Instead, what 'little evidence' there is for rising global temperatures points to a 'natural phenomenon' within a developing eco-system.

In an open letter attacking the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he wrote: "The ocean is not rising significantly.

"The polar ice is increasing, not melting away. Polar Bears are increasing in number.

"Heat waves have actually diminished, not increased. There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact storms are diminishing).

"I have studied this topic seriously for years. It has become a political and environment agenda item, but the science is not valid."

Like tuna, it seems we are losing our polar bears too

Global population of polar bears has increased by 2,650-5,700 since 2001
The official population estimates generated by the IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group (PBSG) give the impression that the global total of polar bears has not changed appreciably since 2001:

2001 PBSG report 21,500-25,000

2005 PBSG report 20,000-25,000

2009 PBSG report 20,000-25,000

2013 PBSG website 20,000-25,000

However, some accounting changes were done between 2001 and 2009 (the latest report available) that mean a net increase in numbers had to have taken place (see summary map below and previous post here.Note this is a different issue than the misleading PBSG website graphic discussed here).

And while it is true that population “estimates” are just that — rather broad estimates rather than precise counts — it is also true that nowhere do the PBSG explain how these dropped figures and other adjustments were accounted for in the estimated totals.

The simple details of these changes are laid out below, in as few words as I could manage, to help you understand how this was done and the magnitude of the effect. It’s a short read — see what you think.

UPDATE 31 May 2015: See the latest population numbers here.

UPDATE 5 December 2014: Links to more recent posts relevant to this issue added below. [including this one: Status of Canadian polar bear populations has been changed – more good news October 28, 2014

UPDATE February 14, 2014 — a new status table has been released, see new post here

UPDATE February 18, 2014 — see graphs of the 1981-2013 estimates here.

Mags it was your first post that talked about polar bears. Then you post an article that uses data showing how reduced hunting in both Canada and the US has helped to increase the number of polar bears. (And supports what I told you in my reply about your polar bear question.) I don't really give two shits about polar bears but it was nice of you to help discredit the author of the first article you posted.

By your own admission you didn't know where that graph came from when you posted it

But I did know it was from Noaa, I recognized the graph. I did not care who made it available to reference. I had the graph in PDF form ...
aww fuck it, never mind.

I'm here to help.

Wow, you're the graph example of photographic memory. I am completely impressed. And a little jealous.

Again Denny, you're on record in this thread saying there is no global warming because the US ordered ice breakers. The graphs you've posted and seem to be chest thumping over do not support that.

I never ever said there's no global warming.

But argue against that strawman all you want. I'm happy to watch you do that.

Pacific Islanders might challenge folks who don't think the oceans are rising

Yep, the oceans are rising, have been for about 18000 years this cycle. I think they have risen bout 192 feet or so from the last low point with maybe a bit more to go. Projections range from 6 inches more to as much as 3 feet more. Remember, the anthropologist tell us that the native Americans walked here across the land that connected Siberia to Alaska back in the day when the oceans were much lower.

So if the oceans have risen by 190 feet in 18000 years, or 10 feet every Milena on average, then we know it is slowing, not increasing since we also know the oceans have only risen in inches in the most recent 1000 years.

Ha! Obama saying, "this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow.." embarrassed me for him and his overt pandering to ill informed. But then, in amazement to me,
the dummies bought it.

Cue SPD

"The oceans are dead"

And

"You claim the oceans aren't rising."

Cue SPD

Hey! I just looked at a navigation chart of the Bering Strait between Cape Prince of Wales Alaska and Cape Dezhneva Sibera where the Diomede Islands are located. The deepest depth
of the ocean between those two capes is 51 meters. So that must be a pretty good indicator of just how much the seas have risen in the past 18000 years. Men walked across there
at some point less than 18000 years ago, more like 11000 years ago I think. So the rate on average is 16 feet per Milena. That means the rise is really slowing way down since it is now in inches per every 1000 years. I guess the Pacific Islanders that chose some Atoll to stake out, just didn't do his home work, he needed one a foot or two higher to take him through the high tide. Maybe a Darwin award is in order.

Tell that to the people of Miami where the ocean level keeps rising and rising and rising.
Tell that to NASA who's measurements of the Earth's ice keeps declining.
Tell that to NOAA who equates our increased intensity of hurricanes to Global Warming and who's measurements of the Earth's average temperature keeps climbing and climbing and climbing.
Where are Mr. Coleman's measurements?
Did you know that Mr. Coleman's training in meteorology consists of a batchelor's degree in journalism from the University of Illinois? He was kicked out of the Weather Channel and he quit the American Meteorological Society. He claimed he never took any scientific measurements.

How about quoting someone with some real credentials?

By the way, on a separate matter, how's your mom? My wife and I really enjoyed her company and I think you're very lucky to have her as a mom. We have fond memories of our visit. Sadly, medical complications make future visits all but impossible.

Also, what a beautiful home you have. Will never forget your man cave.

You know we owe you, your wife and your mother dinner don't you? Let the world know, you people went beyond gracious. By the way, we've got extra bedrooms in our nice, but not as nice as your, home.

His politics being a separate matter, he is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Extremely well mannered and as gracious as anyone I've met. He certainly had a good upbringing.

He's got a great mother who once took on the Hell's Angels and I'm not kidding.

Calvin Natt probably knows his 7th-grader's mother well. But he probably didn't know about her hanging out with the Hell's Angels.

He doesn't actually believe what he says. He says it because it gets a reaction.

Wasn't referring to Calvin Natt.

Didn't mean you. Meant Mags whom I was talking about.
How did you and Julius think for a moment that I meant you?
Weren't you referring to Mags? I certainly thought you were.
