Going To Honolulu

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

At this point, not renting a car. Just taking a shuttle from the airport to the hotel.

The Honolulu City Council is considering a bill that would impose up to a $500 fine and/or up to six months in jail for public transit passengers convicted of being too smelly.

Time for a change of plans!

yeah, tons of hookers in waikiki. pretty hot too of all varieties, they go there for the japanese tourists I think.

Oahu has many military bases with thousands of single American men.

yeah, most of the ones in Waikiki speak Japanese though.

What's the Pearl Ultralounge? Ever been there?

I've been there once. Its a dressy club in the Ala Moana mall. Didn't stay long to be honest, maybe 10-15 minutes..had a drink, got bored and left. Probably not a bad place to check out if you want to get dressed up....but its a bit uppity of a club...meaning girls are dressed up, etc. Its not too bad...dunno, just seemed out of place for hawaii. There's another bar on the top floor of the mall called Mai Tai's....its not bad during the day, chill, game on TV, nice drinks...prob happy hour its pretty good too...lots of drunk slutty chicks...however if you go too late on friday and saturday night it gets kind of "local"/ghetto though.

If you get a car, I suggest going to the North Shore instead or hit up both. North Shore is great for buying fruits on the side of the road, banzai pipeline, and other cool vibe shit out that way. shrimp trucks!

You're scaring me . .. we both do the main island the same way. I have island snow clothes in my closet (first just went there for the shaved ice) and day trip to the North Shore at least once each trip buying fruit, hitting the up the beaches (waimea bay and sunset being my favorite) and always hit up the shrimp trucks (garlic shrimp).

Spend most of my time at Kailua or Lanaki beach. Only difference is I avoid waikiki.

Yeah. Its pretty chill. Last time there I hit the winward side of the island. There's some kind of sand bar where people drink up on holidays with boats I guess..one of my friends was telling me about it last time I was there.

Most of the time I do stay in Waikiki....I did Turtle Bay once..that was really awesome. They have a good public beach there too.....

nah, keep them coming. i love hawaii...been going yearly for the last 6 years or so. never been there. I've tried their beers elsewhere. usually get the longboard lagers. let me know how it is.

skip Sam Choy's. He's a famous chef, but the food kind of sucked.

doing any Luaus? I usually go to Paradise Cove....probably could find a group of chicks or something?

I've been debating the luau action. Are they really worth it??

I don't think so. I was disappointed with the luau (i forget which hotel did the one I attended). The show was OK, the food looked really good the way it was prepared but felt like an overcrowed buffet, all the mai tais (with cheap alcohol) you can drink.

If your picking activities, I would recommend a snorkle cruise (probably not the sunset cruise if you are going solo) or a round of golf at a premier course over a luau.

.....or Boots & Kimo's for the macademia nut banana pancakes when I'm visiting Waimanalo Beach?

Its ok. You talk with random strangers and get hammered...most people there are couples on a honeymoon though but you get some tourists....food is whatever...but you get to try the traditional foods which you probably won't do in most of the restaurants you go to. Its better than going to cheesecake factory, only takes up like 5 hours and you get some cool entertainment (although I'm not into it all that much).

It feels like summer camp though when you get on the bus and go out to Paradise Cove.

yeah. they take you on a boat and you can get some sweet photos of that big mountain.

I was considering a snorkel cruise with this outfit:

....or just renting from here...

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I did Navatek, but only because my brother got me the local rate (40% off).

Do you know about Hanauma Bay?

If you like to snorkel, I highly recommend you rent good gear for the week. Really any beach you go to you can snorkel (obviously some are better than others). . . I always had the gear in a car.

Usually you don't need a car for oahu. But if your on your own, maybe you should consider renting a car and roadtrip each day. You don't have to get approval from the group, you go whenever you are ready and leave whenever you feel like it, it is a small island really so getting lost is kind of fun.

I envy you, if it was me, I would be finding a different beach each day to snorkel and gets some R&R. The less people the better for me. But i realize that is just me and many enjoy the people watching or the hustle and bustle of waikiki.

If you're going there, DEFINITELY check out the Buddhist temple just up the road, like 10 minute walk from there.

it's a recreation of one in Japan, and you can walk all through it.

Very cool. For sure, will have to do that..........................grasshopper. :)
