is okc that bad?

never been there.

Just like you've never been to Portland.

OKC doesn't hold a candle to Seattle, too bad stern didn't see it that way, the I-5 rivalry would be in full swing

There really isn't much of a difference between Omaha, Nebraska and Oklahoma City.

The most undesirable city to play in by far.

Man and I thought we were bad over in Central Oregon. We had a saying. Bend is a city. Redmond is a town. Prineville is just a hole in the ground.

OKC doesn't hold a candle to ESTACADA! The place is brutal! I can't see anybody wanting to go there. I can tell you that the hotel all the teams stays in is 1 block from the arena. Downtown is dead/empty! There is a section about 20 blocks away that they have revived called BrickTown. Couple cool restaraunts and a minor league ball park. That's it! No joke, Salt Lake City is more cosmopolitan then OKC!

OKC usually lands on one of the best places to live lists. Now that may not be true for a 20 something year old black guy, who is all about face time, but in general, it's great. It's about the same distance from Dallas as Portland is from Seattle. I have been to OKC a few times and really enjoyed it. It's a really nice city, and back to race for a moment, has mony more black people than Portland does. I know several NBA players, and all of them tell me that Portland is so white that they feel uncomfortable as a young player anyway.

I'd much rather be in Omaha than OKC. Omaha has a river, trees and you can grow things. OKC is a dump. Fuck, I'd rather be in Tulsa than OKC.

This is all true. It's one thing to attract older guys, but like I said up there, young guys looking for face time might have issues.

Are you guys trying to say that okc is to the NBA as what mixum is to these boards?

I don't know about OKC landing on any best places to live list but that shows you how fucked up those lists are. I have been to over 40+ states. I was in OK for a while when I was in the service and for me it was one of the most depressing ugly places I have ever visited or lived and which also includes Vietnam.

"I tell them it's nice," Durant told the Boston Globe.

Nice! What a ringing endorsement. Sign me up! The only way I could get more excited is if it was pretty nice.

I liked this section of the OKC overview

Crime
Powdered cocaine and crack cocaine are widely available in Oklahoma City. Street gangs such as the Bloods, Crips, South Side Locos and Juaritos have become active in the city and are the primary retail distributors of crack cocaine. Cocaine abuse is prevalent among adult male arrestees in Oklahoma City. According to data from the Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring system ("ADAM"), almost one-quarter (22.4%) of adult male arrestees in Oklahoma City tested positive for cocaine in 2000. During 2002, powdered cocaine in Oklahoma City sold for $90 per gram, $550 to $900 per ounce, and $18,000 to $20,000 per kilogram, making it one of least expensive cities in Oklahoma to purchase cocaine. Crack cocaine in Oklahoma City sold for $5 to $50 per rock, $25 per vial, and $750 per ounce. Crack cocaine often is associated with violence in Oklahoma City. The DEA Oklahoma City District Office reports a steady increase in the number of major crack distributors who are associated with violent Los Angeles-based street gangs such as the Bloods and Crips. Gangs operating in Oklahoma City are involved in violent acts such as drug-related shootings, drive-by shootings, and robberies. Bloods, Crips, and South Side Locos present the greatest challenge to Oklahoma City law enforcement. South Side Locos is considered one of the city's most violent gangs.[35] Oklahoma City Police estimate that on any given night, as many as 6,000 gang members may be out on Oklahoma City streets.[36] Some of the gang "sets" that are active in Oklahoma City include the following:[37][38][39][40]

Westside 90’s Crips
Rollin 20’s Crips
Hard Hoova Crips
24K Crips
Shotgun Crips
Prince Hall Village (Villains)
Playboy Gangsta Crips
Outlaw 30’s Bloods
Rollin 60 Crips
456 Piru Blood
Murder 1
Juarito’s
Culver City Cruiser
South Side Locos
Southtown Barrio
Gran Barrio Central
Barrio Gran Mexicanos
Juarito Sureno 14
LA 36
Los Centrales
Murdertown
Sureno 13
287 Lao Boyz Crips

Crossroads Mall, formerly the flagship retail center in Oklahoma City, largely went into foreclosure because anchor tenants left due to it having become a magnet for gang members.

There is nothing there but flat dusty land with hardly anything(trees, water, mountains) to see no matter how far you look. You can see forever because it is flat and there is nothing to block your view. It was just very depressing for me being from the Northwest with green trees, mountains and the ocean.

I live in Tulsa not OKC, but other than the cost of living there's not a much to like about Oklahoma.

OKC is not on that list, but Cleveland and 4 other Ohio cities are top in the 18.

The real story about OKC will get told when that young talent has the chance to move on and move up to a better city. I'm guessing Clay tries to throw some money at the players a little early in order lock em up longer. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

I think Durant would be crazy to stay, but I also thought Malone would leave the Jazz.

Karl Malone was a redneck from the swamps of Louisiana. He probably loved how quiet SLC was.

I knew Ohio was in bad shape but every major city/town in that state made that list!

We need an NBA team in San Diego! Can't beat SD for living and it's a couple hour drive to the LA night life.

The San Diego Thunder? Maybe they could replace the Chargers...

HCP what would you say are the worst nba cities since you go to all of them? Places like SLC and OKC just seem terrible.

The Midwest in general is horrible. Chicago is the ONLY exception. Trust me when I say, we are lucky to call Portland and the west coast home.

I've been to St. Louis probably a half dozen times. Maybe the most hot girls per capita that I've ever seen. They don't call it the show-me state for nothing.
