CNN) -- Libya's ex-interior minister who resigned his role to support anti-government protesters has been kidnapped, state media reported Wednesday.

Abdul Fattah Younis al Abidi told CNN that he resigned Monday after hearing that 300 unarmed civilians had been killed in Benghazi. He accused Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi of planning to attack civilians on a wide scale.

But hours later, state media reported that "gangs" in Libya's second-largest city, Benghazi, had kidnapped him.

If there's a disruption in our oil supply, then Obama can kiss his re-election goodbye. The transfer payments abroad when gas goes to $5, $6 or $7 a gallon kills our economy dead. Dramatically lower tax receipts. Deficit spending can't work any more because we've already shot our wad on the wasted "Stimulus" and "QE2". That means government can't even try to pick up the slack.

Yeah, we'll certainly solve any issues with Libyan oil supply in the next few weeks if we start drilling everywhere now. Panic is always a good response to a potential but likely overblown crisis.

It doesn't matter from where we get our oil, the market is determined by worldwide supply. And it's not even on actual supply, but projected supply. For example the world is actually awash in oil, but the political instability in oil-producing countries and our government limiting drilling domestically is driving up the price of the commodity. Perception is what drives commodity markets because so much of it is based in futures.

The way to affect the price of oil is to approve drilling licenses and water rights for shale oil.

Let's not forget, energy prices are factored into virtually every other good and service. When energy prices increase, all prices increase. With our weak economy and the government out of monetary bullets, it looks like a recipe for stagflation.
