That shit happens. HP went with the low bid, they wanted the biggest drive for the cheapest price. You the consumer cared about the size of the hard drive but didn't wonder about the quality of it or who made it.

Ok, so I did a diagnostic on my HD (via the "press escape" option when you turn on the computer) and yep...HD test showed it's failing.

If you replace a HD on a laptop, does it have to be the same brand? Or does that matter at all?
