Gio Urshela and Gary Sanchez traded from the Twins to the Yankees for 3B Josh Donaldson, SS Isiah Kiner-Falefa and C Ben Rortvedt.

Very interesting as that may be the precursor to trading voit and gleyber to Oakland for Olsen deal. At least they get a GG SS and we don’t have to watch sanchez anymore. DJ probably plays 3rd at the moment

Great news that Sanchez is gone, but Gio damn, I liked Urshela, and for Donaldson hmmm? He's a gamer but he's getting old. I read this was all about WAR stats.

So glad to hear about this trade, even though I always liked Geo.

Sorry I haven’t been posted like I usually do but my Internet is down and may be down for a month or two, so I’m having to do everything including my business by this damn iPhone instead of my Mac.

Gonna miss Geo, best Yankee 3rd Baseman. since Nettles. Will not miss Sanchez. Gonna be interesting to see how Cole and Donaldson get on after last years Donaldson singing out pitch cheating by Cole.

I thought about that too but we’ve had disliked players come to New York in the past when they played for other teams but once they put on the pinstripes we love them. Roger Clemens for one comes to mind but we loved him and then grew to hate him again so I don’t know.

Also, Donaldson is 35 years old so I have to believe he’s just a stopgap till we can maybe bring up one of the two of the youngsters on the farm to play shortstop.

I once heard Bill Ripken say that Josh Donaldson did not play baseball to make friends. Both Donaldso and Kiner Falefa have spunk something very much on the '20 & '21 Yankees. Saw Kiner Falefa interviewd on MLB Net a couple times, the man is a gamer with confidence in his abilities,

With Olsen now going to Atlanta and Freeman likely going to LA, the Yankees need to get Rizzo back.

Money will shut their mouths…….assuming both are professionals!

I will grudgingly accept Donaldson as a Yankee under the following terms and conditions:
Yankees give up chase for Freeman

My internet (Starlink) is back up and working. (turned out to be just a bad cable connector)

WOOO HOOO !

Noce get 59. Will be nice to have a good defensive catcher for a change. With our lineup what he hits will be a bonus!!

Yeah, that's what I liked about Higgy over Sanchez, he worked so well with the whole pitching staff and at least competent at the plate. Glad I won't have to watch Sanchez' lazy ass behind the plate anymore.

Same with the SS position...Torres is simply abysmal at SS...maybe the return to 2B will help him on defense as well as at the plate.

Still digesting the Donaldson situation...we have him as well as DJ so who plays 3B?...I wonder if maybe Donaldson is insurance in case DJ still is not healthy?

Kinda wonder if maybe the Yanx are considering trading Torres?

I think DJ will be what he was initially signed for as a super utility man playing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and even DH. The way Boone constantly rests players and the inevitable Yankee injuries DJ will get plenty of at bats. I thought Torres could have went in an Olsen trade but now that that ship has sailed I think he is staying and will have a good year at 2nd base

Yeah, that crossed my mind too, but considering DJ is a solid defender at every position he plays, and is the only player to ever win a batting title on both leagues and is a career .300 hitter, I just can't justify not having him in the line up virtually every day.

Word is that the Yanx and A's are talking about a blockbuster deal that may net the Yanx one of the A's young starting pitchers, and my guess is that Gleyber Torres just might be a key trade chip for the Yanx.

I hope so, and I think it's inevitable. Imo, GT had a shitload of stress on his shoulders knowing he had to nail down SS, but he didn't. He had some dynamite offense when he was playing 2nd, and I believe a return to 2nd will calm his nerves. He wasn't a gold glover at 2nd, but he was diarrhea at SS.
