So could the blazers release one of their two way players and sign Brown back on a 2 way contract?

He had every opportunity to improve his game with us. If he couldn't get meaningful minutes last year, all that potential was never going to develop

I know, I know, gems in the rough. Wesley Matthews went undrafted! We can list numerous 2nd rounders that became star players. But can we compile the list of thousands of players that didn't make the cut?
 
I'd rather have Greg than Kevin fucking Knox. Neither of them is good enough to play in the NBA but at least Greg seems like a good dude.

So that's 2 in the last 20 years. I would say at least 50% of second round picks don't dent an NBA rotation. And about 50% of the rest are fringe at best.

What did you want to do with GP2 once the Blazers got the upgrade they wanted in MT? Take a known bust in Wiseman or get assets that might become into something?

Of course, but they are still better than one bust first rounder they could have got.

All I am saying is that 2nd round picks are not worthless. It is not often that you find stars there, but you certainly get role players there - so getting these for a role player that is no longer needed is not a bad way to go, especially if you invest in draft savvy executives which supposedly the Blazers did.

Salary filler. Who cares.

If you want me to rephrase it:

1. expensive bust (Wiseman)
2. 5 2nd round picks that might turn into something + Cheaper salary filler bust?

The answer should not change if they do not believe in Wiseman being anything other than a bust...
 
Belief in absolutes erodes the truth.....that there are very few absolutes in life....especially in sports.

2nd round picks pan out. Sorry that goes against you hoping the team fails to fit your narrative.

Of course you have a soft spot for him. He could fly, and you love birds.
 
Last season I had some interest in seeing if he could develop. But then in summer league I was very concerned, he didn't look like an NBA player.

Once we saw him at the start of the season I knew he was a scrub and not worth a roster spot.

Good luck to him, but glad the team has moved on. Ideally we buyout any of these other fill ins now on the roster and take some flyers on players that may have a chance of busting out to be on the roster next season.
