$260? Really? A little steep considering 10 minutes later it wouldn't even be enforced.

...what were you in such an impatient hurry for? :dunno:

Will the amount of the fine be sufficient to prevent you from using the improperly using the HOV lane in the future?

Fines are too steep, because judges and lawyers make so much, they don't know the value of a dollar.

Your defense is that the lane moved into your path.

Cop spotted your blow up sex doll in the passenger's seat?

I take the HOV lane every day and pray the single occupancy assholes will all get tickets

The other thing that drives me crazy, even though it's legal, is when someone is driving with a baby. The HOV lane was created to cut down on emissions. a baby can't drive, so it should be two licensed drivers

This. I think the fines should be steeper - people don't take it very seriously. It's an HOV lane for a reason, and there's a time schedule for a reason. GTFO!!

Is this considered a moving violation on your insurance? If so $260 could be cheaper than the other costs you'll end up having to pay.

Thinking about this more, I really have zero empathy for the original poster. He clearly knew he was breaking the rules, and gambled that he wouldn't get caught. This one time he did. They could charge him a $1000 for wasting other drivers time as well as the cop and the courts.

If you consider it steep, maybe you'll avoid acting like an idiot next time.

I figure the stop took about 10 minutes. Did you get right back into the HOV lane after you got the ticket, since it would have been after HOV hours?

Even worse is all the time wasted by thousands of other commuters as Zags gets his ticket. Cops should put some sort of marker on single drivers in the HOV lane, and people should be allowed to throw things at the moron who wasted everybody's time to save himself 15 minutes.

Some people think they are above the law. I'm laughing Zags even posted this here, admitting his foolishness, like we'd feel bad or think the ticket was excessive.

Lol at the holier than thou attitude on here. Like you've never broke a petty law. It was Friday, a long week and ten til 6. I doubt any of you even commute to Vancouver and half to put up with the traffic on a daily basis.

I'm pretty sure most of us are just giving you shit. And I'm pretty sure most of us have probably broken petty laws - I just don't complain when I know I'm in the wrong.

And you're right..... I don't commute from/to Vancouver. I wouldn't be caught dead living, or hanging out, in Vantucky.

Is it really holier than thou to point out that bitching about a ticket you got because you were caught doing you know you're not supposed to do, is incredibly funny?

And acting like you got wronged is even more hilarious?

Because if it is, then yes, I'm holier than thou

Point out where I act like I got wronged. I just think the amount is a little steep

Zags is my boy, but you guys are fire today with the cracks!

The only place I've driven in that lane is So-Cal. I have been in rental cars and just said fuck it. Never have got caught though!

Luckily for me, Houston has no traffic
