Last night at 2:30am I was coming home from work on Swan Island and I got pulled over doing 53mph in a 30mph construction zone. I got pulled over and the officer was really cool with me. Essentially he gave me the $400 dollar ticket, but gave me a card with his number and said that I can go to a $50 class that will waive the ticket.

Has anyone ever taken this class or know anyone who has? If you do, does it effect your insurance?

If its the same as in California, you plead guilty to the speeding ticket, pay the fine THEN go to the class. By going to the class, the ticket doesn't go on your insurance record. The classes are fucking lame..try to do it online if you can.

Sounds like traffic school. I did one out in Washington county a few years ago. Think it was 3 hours or so. They took the ticket off my record and the fees were around $100 or so.

Everywhere I'm reading online says the class isn't available for construction zone tickets, but the cop said that and gave me his personal cell number. Hmmmm I don't know. BTW this is my first ticket in about 6 years.

Man, the cops have been out in force lately.... and it's not even the end of the month.

I got a ticket for my seat belt, and they gave me the option to pay or go to a class.

I went to a 2 hour class and paid 20 bucks. They gave me a piece of paper and I brought it back to the place and they took the ticket completely off my record. So it is like I never had it.

Good deal, I recommend it.

All that for a seat belt? Then again, they crack down on that shit in England.

Yeah, I was like 20 seconds from work and got pulled over in my work parking lot. The cop was having none of my smooth talk, lol.

Are you English?

Lol. Nothing worse than having your co-workers seeing you busted.

Yeah it was embarrassing. I had to respond to like 100 questions from them, and they laughed when I said I wasn't wearing my seat belt.

Such a stupid thing to do. Take 2 seconds to put your seat belt on and save a ton of money. I have worn it every time I drive since, it is second nature now (as i'm sure it is with many of you). I feel naked if I don't wear it!

niiiice you got those digits, hit him up with the booty call tonight and ask him to tear up the "ticket".

Why wouldn't you wear a seat belt in the first place?

The first offense is going 11-21 mph over the posted speed limit is around $184. So $400 sounds about right. I just paid the $184 ticket and got back $35 in good record standings with the county or DMV. No increase with insurance.

About a month ago I was going 42mph in a 35 construction zone but the motorcycle cop didn't pull me over. They really go after people going over 10 mph to give a ticket.
