You had to be blind not to see this coming. Unfortunately his replacement is currently mired in a 4 for 30 slide.

...not sure why you only wanted to use his last 30 ABs, that's not much of a sample size, but whatever.

...he's still light years better than Soriano...defensively, offensively, and on the base paths.

Sandoval....meh. After CC, no more big bodies.

Ichiro every day will put up better numbers.

I agree he's an up grade over Soriano. I was just pointing out that LATELY he's been slumping.

...meh, 30 ABs ain't much...and 4 for 30 is no more typical for Ichiro than 15 for 30 would be in a short stretch.

...I'd like to see Ichiro in there EVERY day.

...don't see it happening until they know for sure about ARod.

Between 3rd base, 1st base & DH (Soriano gone & Beltran back in right) Sandoval would get plenty of ABs even if A-Roid comes back.

...don't think you'll see Beltran as a full time RFer. But if you assume Beltran will stay healthy you also have to assume Tex will too...so that leaves 3B...if ARod returns Sandoval would probably not get that much paying time...big investment for a part time player.

...just my 2 cents.

His body will breakdown...I'll pass.

Soriano was getting bad on both sides of his game, Ichiro is a freak of nature and still pretty much on his game, as far as McCarthy goes the man does have sack going out there after what happened to him. Wish him success, as for Nuno, Bye.

We should've known with Soriano when before the season started he was talking about this possibly being his last season. The desire didn't seem to be there at all this season.

adios. glad to see you go.

Like Kay said, we didn't make the playoffs last year but we never even would have gotten as close as we did without Soriano. He had a hellava stretch last season after coming over from the Cubs. And all in all he put together a nice career. I wish him luck.

It's amazing a guy can go from 34/101 to complete crap but this is what happens at that age when peds aren't running ramped anymore. The drop comes quick. Look at Mike Schmidt for example.

Schmidt went from .293 35 113 and then the years and wear and tear caught up to him. An injury towards the end of 1988 and then in 1989 quickly said I can't do this anymore and that's it. I think by the late 30s people forget how much baseball these guys have played. All the throws and swings. All the pounding on the knees and playing with little injuries.

Gotcha, yeah I would have liked to have seen him have a few more years. He was a fun player to watch.

I was thrilled to see Soriano go, it was just time. He had a great career but he isn't going to be an answer going forward. 59, I for 2 years now have been complaining about Ichiro's lack of power in right field. So he can go next, hopefully in a trade for an outfielder before the deadline. I don't see Beltran getting hardly any time in the outfield due to the injury. I rather see Almonte up and have him hit just from the right side. My next wish is good bye to Ichiro!

Just got home and saw the news. Writing was on the wall for Soriano. I could not stand Nuno so I think McCarthy is an upgrade. Cashman has to upgrade 3rd base. Johnson is next to follow Soriano or maybe they can get a bullpen arm for him.

...MB, I saw an article awhile back that said both Ichiro and Murphy could be trade bait. But now with Soriano gone and Beltran physically "iffy", they'll also need another OFer...Rios maybe?

I'm not to familiar with the Rangers roster but I don't know if they need a catcher. Don't they have Soto?

...that's the rub....the Yanx may need a 3rd partner in a 3 way to pull it off...but who knows?

...personally, I'd rather keep Murphy and trade either Sanchez or Romine.

Good to see the fly swatter go. Got tired of seeing him struggle. More tired of watching him swing for the fences, and foolishly at balls not even close to the K-Zone..!

Sad in some ways, to see any ballplayer go out hitting nada....just a shell of his former self...!
