OT Gout

Try getting cortisone shots in the joints at the base of your toes. They hurt so much that you forget about the gout.

@Jade Falcon eat cherries. Lots of cherries. Here's some stuff about cherry extract for gout. It works for me. I had gout when I was 35. It no longer bothers me.

Thank you both. I'll pass for now on the cortizone injections. My father got those for his knee before surgery, and I've heard they hurt like hell.

As for cherries, I just went shopping two days ago, and all I have are grapes and Ocean Spray cranberry juice mix (100%, no sugar added). I think one of them is Cranberry/Cherry. I'll check and try that.

And thanks to everyone who responded! Much appreciated. It still hurts, but not nearly as bad as yesterday.

Oh I'm DEFINITELY looking into this. Thanks for the link!

Fuck cortisone shots. They don't do anything about the root cause, a buildup of uric acid.

Foods to stay away from:
  • Red meat and organ meats
  • Shellfish (shrimp, lobster)
  • Refined Carbs (white bread, rice, pasta, sugar)
  • Processed foods
  • Sugary Beverages
  • Alcohol
So you pretty much have steam for your main food group now.

Might as well just die.

:biglaugh: LOL, yeah, might as well just stick my mouth over a humidifier.

I had two sodas this past week that probably contributed to this attack. I don't drink sodas often; usually just one when I have a cigar or when I'm at a restaurant. Both of which are not often. I had a cigar and pepsi this week, and then a rootbeer two or three days later.

My refined carb intake hasn't changed, so I doubt that played a big role. But I did have some junk food; more than usual. And I don't drink alcohol.

I'm sure this will go away soon. Right now I'm drinking Cranberry/Cherry juice from Ocean Spray (100%, no sugar added). It's not ideal, but it's better than nothing. But those two sodas that I had are likely what brought this on.

Naw, can't take the soda crap anymore at all. It has been years since I could I guess. When I want something like that to settle the stomach, Swepps Club soda or other carbonated waters work fine. At first I though this was about Soda, like baking Soda. Some pretty good bread made with baking soda instead of yeast.
Good for those want to keep Gout away. But I would also stay away from the white flour to make the bread. I think that Gluten is a problem all on it's own.
Perhaps by passing the purine/uric acid inflammation all together.

I read Gluten is part of rye flour, and rice too, but they don't seem to cause any problems. Anyone know why?

Read my link earlier. Round Up

Well, I did read that yesterday. And to be honest, I am skeptical. As wheat farm some years back, I never used Round up like they suggest, and did not know anyone that did. But that was 24 years ago. Is this a new thing! I sure as hell don't understand why?
So what the hell is up?

Big agriculture. Why some people can eat organic stuff and not mass produced

Very few people really have Celiac disease. I'm highly susceptible to chemicals, a little lacquer thinner on the skin fucks me up.

Well, I have to think you are correct. But shit this makes no sense. We are damn near upon a real disaster if this shit isn't fixed real soon. One bad year away from serious trouble. But something is dreadfully wrong right now.

I don't know all the things they do but I suspect 8/10 of them we'd all say "are you fucking serious?"

Ah. Thanks for that.

I just ate one slice of cheese and a bun without even thinking. Now it's flared back up again. Goddammit!

If it wasn't for idiots like me, the medical field wouldn't have any customers.

It is hard to learn! But damn man, you need to quit that shit! No fucking buns!

Stay away from the high purine foods. Trust me, it'll work. I was diagnosed with gout (sore big toe, blood tests confirmed, etc.) but only had it the one time. That was 20 years ago, so it's not been chronic. I did lose 30 lbs and that helped, too. That's why I mentioned it.

The short list of food to avoid probably will do. Stay away from Turkey, and anything that comes in a pod (peas, beans, peanuts). That sort of thing. The list is only about 10 foods.

.....I had a half-pound package of Oscar Meyer turkey. But I've always had that stuff, at least once a day. Never given me a problem.

Sigh!

I've heard that dog testicles are a natural cure.

.........I am NOT getting tea-bagged by @SlyPokerDog.

I don't drink aspartame. Can't stand stevia.

I'll just Not drink soda. I've given it up before.

Erythritol is a good and safe sweetener. Sucralose is fine, too.

Someone get me a pair of bolt cutters. I've had enough!

I would drive somewhere and get something for it, but I drive a stick shift-and-clutch. I had to get up just now to fill up my water bottle....that was sheer agony. I can't even imagine driving my car right now.

I worked when my toe was so bad I couldn't wear a shoe. I wore a flip flop on my left foot. Driving my Focus was a bitch but at least it has a light clutch pedal.

The next day I cut a relief hole in an old shoe and jammed my foot in, it was fine once it got to the cutout. Going in was horrific.

I can't even put a slipper on. Already tried.

Just gonna keep drinking water. And more IBuprofen at 10 or so.

Don't click the thumbnail if you have a weak stomach but my toe is still deformed from where it got bad. You need to get this under control fast if you don't want a foot like this.IMG_20180316_183141.jpg
