Don't click the thumbnail if you have a weak stomach but my toe is still deformed from where it got bad. You need to get this under control fast if you don't want a foot like this.View attachment 19488

Thanks. So far it doesn't look any different than usual, but I'm definitely keeping an eye on it.

My feet are so small that the middle toe on my left foot doesn't even have a joint in the middle. I doubt they could be deformed much more than they already are. :biglaugh:

You best just get a gallon of water, go stand in front of your favorite place to pee, and start drinking. Stop only to get some more water.
Perhaps in a day or two....

Oh. My. Fucking God. The pain.

So I've been busy the past day with chores here and there. And I've kept my shoes on for about 24 straight hours. They aren't heavy shoes, so it wasn't that big of a deal.

But this morning, my right big toe started hurting. And it slowly got worse. About 45 minutes ago, I finally took my shoes off, and now the pain is just absolutely throbbing.

I haven't had a gout attack since I was in my early 20s. And they were NEVER this bad.

Oh my God.....I want to tear the fucking thing off and throw it out the window. That might actually help.

Anyone got any cures? I'm gonna slam 600 mg of IBProfin, and put an ice pack on it. Anything else I can do? Lay off the sugar and sodium, perhaps?

:smiley-195517897341:wantmommy::ohmy:

I am so unhappy right now. If the Blazers fuck this up tonight, I'll kill @SlyPokerDog.
Even though you are in dire pain, the @SlyPokerDog does not control futures. I have arthritis and know what trip your on. Go see a rheumatologist right away. My guy saved me. This will not be the only night.
Nothing compares to the sharp pain in your joints which is like a knife thrust direct into the bone. IBProfin has to be taken with food. Surely you will fuck up your stomach. Check out youtube for some alternative answers. Good luck bro.

It was already a bitch finding size 15 shoes, now they have to be wide too. Before it depended on the shoe

The only comparable pain I've had is a sinus infection that made my eye swell shut requiring a hospital stay and an impacted gall bladder which was removed. The gall bladder was the worst of all. Would have been suicidal if that pain lasted for any length of time.

:biglaugh: LOL, yeah, might as well just stick my mouth over a humidifier.

I had two sodas this past week that probably contributed to this attack. I don't drink sodas often; usually just one when I have a cigar or when I'm at a restaurant. Both of which are not often. I had a cigar and pepsi this week, and then a rootbeer two or three days later.

My refined carb intake hasn't changed, so I doubt that played a big role. But I did have some junk food; more than usual. And I don't drink alcohol.

I'm sure this will go away soon. Right now I'm drinking Cranberry/Cherry juice from Ocean Spray (100%, no sugar added). It's not ideal, but it's better than nothing. But those two sodas that I had are likely what brought this on.

Try a chilled Harvey's Bristol Cream with your next cigar. Before I met my wife, my roommate and I used to smoke a cigar, drink chilled Harvey's Bristol Cream and toast each other saying "To the Regiment!". We'd then throw our newly emptied glasses in the fireplace, with logs burning in it. The fireplace was wall to wall and floor to ceiling. I used to live in thaat house as a small boy. My mom kept it all those years and then rented it out to us. Loved that neighborhood in the old part of Lake Oswego. It was so close to the majority of the bars and taverns that we could walk from one to another until our circuit brought us home.

There is one pain that sort of the mother of all pain. Gout is a bitch, but it's twin brother caused by the uric acid is the real mother of all pain.

Uric acid Kidney stone. Now when that dude get maneuvered over the outlet and start to block the flow, that's it! I will cause you to blow chips on the spot.
Make you lip roll up and turn white. You can do shit but hope to die, then it may get worse. The pain is so bad, you reel in your balls until it feels as if you been kick in the nuts and you can get the foot out of there.

It is bad shit man. They ain't got any pills for that one.

Oh fux I'm dying laughing. I had something late last year like that. Had to sleep in my chair for three days

It is caused by eating high purine foods and getting dehydrated. Prolonged dehydrations will generate a fucking stone too big to ever come through and it just stays and grows.

I waited for two years until the machine was available to do Lithotripsy. Where they blast that stone up into smaller pebbles. Ha! then you get to pass all that shit out through you know where. Man that ain't pretty. It took about 8 10 day to clear. Fuck!

I've passed four kidney stones. The first was a huge surprise. My wife rushed me to the emergency room. Had to stop along the way so I could puke out the open door.

The second one got passed in my apartment in Seattle overnight. I laid in a hot bath all night moaning and groaning.

The third was passed while driving from Portland to Seattle.

The fourth was passed while in a night class at a local college. I sat in the back row so no one could see my face or hear my whimpering.

Kidney stones are hell on Earth.

Yeah, well, you were lucky you could pass them. It gets a hell of lot worse when you can't.

I never said it was easy. Remember the part about me puking?

I've had to man up about some real pain many times in my life.

I do believe you. My point was, it goes away when you do pass the thing. When you can't, you can guess what happens.

Yes, very fun.

LOL

You know what, I've taken them for my arthritis. It works wonders.

I worried about the cortisone shots and my bone strength so I gave them up.

Arthritis WAS a severe problem until my talented Rheumatologist introduced RASUVO injectable. One self injected shot in the stomach is no big deal once a week. This product has a chemical that was used for cancer patients when a pharma company applied it to the people who suffer from arthritis. To me, Arthritis is like mosquitos: Why do we have them?. @Lanny, as you know, the sharp pain permeates muscle and bone. Once you have it, the next hard task is the next painful adventure.

Try small doses of multiple pain relievers instead of large doses of one pain reliever.

1 aspirin, 1 tylenol, 1 ibuprofen, 1 alvieve. It's been proven to work better than opiates and less chance of screwing up your liver and kidneys.

Sly is almost right. But for one small thing. Never take ibuprofen and alvieve together. Double up the ibuprofen or alvieve but not together.

I been suffering through muscle damage in the rib cage/back area this week. Spent the whole damn day in the hospital Monday.
Well, during the day now, I take 1 aspirin, 2 ibuprofen, 1 Tylenol, and drink beer until comfortable.

Wow, I completely forgot about this thread.

I guess an update is in order: long story short, I went back to the doctor several times over the past few months, with various medicines and dosages. The first time I went there in March, after I made this thread, the pain was so bad that I couldn't even wear a shoe or walk. I had to be wheeled in to the doctor's office in a wheel chair. Not fun.

I eventually got some Indomethacin 50mg capsules, and they help significantly. Right now, there's almost no swelling (just feels a little tight), zero pain, and I can walk on it fine. When the flare-ups happen, I just pop some capsules for a couple of days.

My doctor's office (Peacehealth Medical) is completely incompetent though, so I'll probably have to go to a foot doctor for any further diagnosis.

Peacehealth is THE worst medical group I've ever dealt with. I had some unrelated tests done for something else back in November, and went to a specialist last week for further testing, and he could only find yes and no answers in the charts from Peacehealth regarding that November appointment. No joke. No details about levels of this or that; just yes and no answers.

Anyways....thanks everyone for the suggestions and advice!

I recommend a rheumatologist. They sucked out the offending acid with a needle giving me instant relief, followed by a prescription of allopurinol, which I'm still on with no more gout. This is what happens to people with no more functioning kidneys.

Eat. Broccoli. Stops the inflammation from starting.

Both are really bad....like Lanny I started Allopurinol 5 years ago and haven't had a gout attack since. Stay away from asparagus very bad for those with gout.
Just last year I had surgery to remove kidney two stones that were blocking my bladder to urteha (sp?).

Doctors can test your uric acid with a simple blood test, they know what levels will cause gout and its either control by med or diet or both.

Diet, drinking a lot of water, and exercise did wonders for me.

The quality of health care has been on the decline in many areas. Many health care providers are cutting costs and corners.

Maybe it is a coinsidence, but the more our government gets involved, the more difficult it has become to find quality care. But that is not the reason for my post.

I will share my own true horror story, but funny.

My large dog ran full speed into the side of my leg, tearing the miniscus. My doctor ordered a MRI at the local hospital.

At the hospital, I was met by two very nice nurses. One informed me everything was ready for my ultrasound. I just stood there with my mouth open, not knowing what to say.

Finally one of the nurses caught on, and said.

Really mister, at your age, you should know better than to get pregnant. The main nurse still did not catch on that she was setting up for the wrong test. After a long pause, with two of us laughing, she finally got it.

After the MRI, that was with a different nurse (hospital entered incorrect test in the computer). I ran into the two ultrasound nurses. And told them.

Good news, I'm having twins. We all had a good laugh. But I will never feel comfortable in that hospital again.

Rather have gout.

I passed four kidney stones in the late 80s. The first one I had no idea what was going on. My wife drove me to the emergency room. Had to stop half way there and lean out the side of the car and puke, the pain was so bad.

Then, I had one in the middle of the night in my apartment in Renton. Oh my God, the pain was so bad that I moaned all night in a fairly loud voice. Must have driven my neighbors nuts. Got some relief in a hot bath.

The third one happened while I was driving to Seattle. About half way there, it hit. I toughed it out.

The fourth one happened during a class at PCC. I sat in the back of the room and quietly whimpered.

Haven't had a stone since. All four of my attacks happened within a 6 month period.

The only person I'd wish this off on is the dick that ran off with my ex wife. He rot in hell. Stole from me on his way out the door.
