Our state is so liberal that you don't even have to campaign. Your boss can be a crook, get elected, step down, and then you can coast to a re-election. You don't need to debate. You don't need to stand for anything. You don't need to believe in anything. You just need to mark "D" next to your party affiliation and you're good to go.

Governor isn't the boss of the Secretary of State. They are both independently elected.

The biggest problem is that the Oregon Republicans can never find anyone worth a lick to run. It's like every Gubernatorial or Senatorial election they trot out the crazy old uncle that no one wants to claim instead of a viable candidate. I mean, it's not like the Democratic candidates are the cream of anyone's crop. But at least they can complete a sentence without twitching and drooling. It's like the Republicans make a conscious choice to lose.......and then we get stuck with a complete hack like Kate Brown. The least the Republicans could do is give us a realistic choice.....
Example: Chris Dudley
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Had Motor voter not been in effect, he should have won.
I don't know nothing about her... nuh thing. You don't know!

Sharing from someone who has worked 10+ years in emergency Management. This appears to be something the majority of you do not know.
"So all you misinformed people, here is a little primer on emergency management and declarations.
The Governor has nothing to do with supertankers. While she can advocate for it (I'm sure she knows what the real story is behind it, not the keyboard warrior story), she cannot order it, she cannot tell wildland firefighters what equipment to use, and she doesn't fight the fires. So stop bitching about it because you are grossly misinformed. Instead, read some history about the Incident Command System and why it was created and is used worldwide for managing complex incidents like wildfires. A little knowledge doesn't hurt.
What happens when we have a lot of wildfires, or wildfire danger is extreme? The governor declares a conflagration, which has already happened this year. This is essentially an emergency declaration that opens up state resources to local agencies fighting fires. ODF, USFS are most likely already on scene as they manage a lot of our land where wildfires occur, so this declaration allows the use of additional state resources, such as the National Guard. Also, many of our local, state, and federal wildland firefighting agencies already have agreements and contracts in place that allow them to deploy and assist each other as needed.
If you think they are just letting it burn and evacuating people, again, you are grossly misinformed. Just because a supertanker wasn't deployed doesn't mean there are people just letting it burn. Quite the contrary, there are people on the ground working VERY HARD to fight our fires. The let it burn policy doesn't pertain to protection of property, and isn't usually applied to fires in populated areas. If it's burning populated areas it is because the fire is intense and resources do not yet have it under control.
So stop complaining about governors and supertankers. A supertanker isn't the cure for all fires. It is a tool, among many tools, and is either useful or not depending on the situation.
I don't care what your political bent is. I don't care if you hate the governor. Facts, not drama folks. You have the world at your fingertips. Time to use it to educate yourself and be a factual keyboard warrior."
sorry barfo wont happen again, shes still a cunt, thanks babyProbably you won't read it, but the following seems like it was written just for you ( I copied it from a comment in a thread elsewhere).

Kate Brown signed the motor voter law in 2015.
Chris Dudley ran for governor in 2010.
Blanket reference. The state at that time was handing out licenses along with voter registrations like candy bars. Often referred to as Motor Voter.
lies, fake newsOregon was the first state that enacted Motor Voter.
That was in 2015.
According to a study done by OPB this year Motor Voter overwhelmingly helped people to register in rural counties since it was they who have the most difficulties in traveling to traditional voter registration locations.
Rural Oregon counties tend to be republicans.
umm, this is very interesting. If true then, no one in fire fighting is answerable directly to the people. We have a bureaucracy shielded in the cloud, making wise decisions and protecting us with benevolent efficiency?
That's it, you nailed it. If the governor doesn't personally determine firefighting tactics, then there is no oversight at all.

I remember 2002 being offered to register and was astounded that in 2006 that they had progressed to assuming registration.
