Irony defined, IMO.

:sigh:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama will announce new steps Monday to reduce government waste, arguing that inefficiency, fraud and abuse are especially troubling during tough economic times.

Obama was to sign an executive order creating the Campaign to Cut Government Waste. According to a draft of the order obtained by The Associated Press, Obama will call for a new oversight board to work with federal agencies to cut back on waste and improve their performance

I'm reminded of a banner at the offices of Initech from the movie "Office Space": Planning to Plan.

The irony is the owner of a consulting firm started this thread.

The real irony is that a residential real estate agent, in Lapine, that was previously a government employee, is trying to call out a consultant.

Not a single clue about the real world.

President Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness met today in Durham, North Carolina, at a company that manufactures energy-efficient LED lighting. One of the Council's recommendations to President Obama was to streamline the federal permit process for construction and infrastructure projects. It was explained to Obama that the permitting process can delay projects for "months to years ... and in many cases even cause projects to be abandoned ... I'm sure that when you implemented the Recovery Act your staff briefed you on many of these challenges." Obama smiled and interjected: "Shovel-ready was not as ... uh .. shovel-ready as we expected." The Council, led by GE's Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter.

Yeah, almost $1 trillion later, the joke is on all of us. I hope Immelt and Obama laugh about this again the next time they golf together.

How is that ironic? I'm a private business owner, working solely with private money.

A very large portion of government waste is wasted on consulting firms.

An enormous amount.

It's painfully clear from your threads, but don't despair.

Hang in there and listen to me. I've got a much wider array of life experiences than most, and I enjoy sharing what I've learned with the less adventurous.

You'll catch on.

I'm not on a government contract I wouldn't now how to even apply for one. You do realize that there are private industry consultants, right?

Dumb post, and a dumb thought. I accept the apology you'll never give me in advance.

Yes, the government uses them all the time. I think ALL consultants are private sector.

I am unaware of the existence of any Federal consultants. There is not a Department of Consulting that I know of anyway. I've been back in the private sector for 15 years now so don't hold me to that.

Or are you claiming you would refuse to accept a job advising the government?

Filling out a standard form to bid on a job is too complicated for your grasp?

Maybe advising others how to run their business isn't really the best use of your limited talents?

Huh? I don't think you understand what I do for a living.

That was uncalled for MARIS, wasn't it?

I thought you ran back to the kitchen to rustle up sandwiches for the customers when they want dill, not sweet. What kind of advice do you give, with examples, and to what kind of businesses? Restaurants?
