WAITING LIST INFORMATION
The Housing Authority of Portland will be mailing Update Letters to applicants whose last names begin with the letters M through R during the week of January 31, 2011. Applicants must respond to the Update Letter no later than February 22, 2011.
The Update Letter provides the current information HAP has on file for applicants and requests that any changes to that information be reported on the letter.
Even if there are no changes the applicant is still required to return the letter.
In addition to the Update Letter the packet will include information that gives applicants the opportunity to make changes to their current application. Per Public Housing policy, applicants are allowed a one-time opportunity to change their waiting list selections and/or the number of people in the household. Applicants may take advantage of this option at any time before they are selected from a waiting list.
A copy of HAP's Wait Time Estimation Worksheet is attached to the Update Letter. Applicants should review this list to see what the estimated wait time is for the waiting list(s) they are on. If applicants would like to change their waiting list choices, they may do so on the Update Letter. Applicants may have their names on up to three waiting lists.
Please note that there are a number of lists with wait times of one year or less. Some of the properties that were open during our most recent waiting list opening (July 2010) have wait times in excess of 10 years. For this reason we are attempting to reach out to individuals who are currently on HAP's waiting lists and notify them of their eligibility to change lists before we open additional waiting lists.
