Government or State aid for missing work?

Since my son has been in and out of the hospital, I have missed a lot of work. I am on FMLA but I have used all my sick time.

Does anyone know of any state or government aid plan for situations like this? I am afraid I am not going to make rent.

I'm not sure there is much state or federal government help that can be had for your situation. I assume you make too much money to qualify for TANF. It's possible you could qualify for a Domestic Violence grant, but I don't think you would qualify as you don't live with the abuser of the child. Might be worth a look though. Many programs have been cut in the past 20 to 30 years by people in legislature who felt people ought to "pull themselves up by their bootstraps". The thing is disasters happen and people genuinely need help through no fault of their own. Yet the destruction of the public safety net has been pretty dramatic over the past couple of decades.

Yeah, I make too much for DHS benefits. They already declined me. But I am going to re-apply with new paystubs since I am not making any money this month.

If you want you can PM me with how much you are grossing this month and I'll tell you what if anything you qualify for. I work for DHS and also do Reiki on the side. I hope to one day do energy healing full time. I've had some pretty miraculous results, it's just hard to start a new business in this economy and I need the health care for my son and wife.
