OT Governor Kate Brown is finally going to shut Oregon down

I know, I've read that several times and it is still very unclear. They list a bunch of randomly specific businesses.

For example, my store isn't specifically listed but it is kind of in a "strip mall" center so it technically is closed but the rest of the center is mostly restaurants and Safeway/Rite Aid who are all allowed to stay open? So basically my whole center isn't closed?

sorry HJ, I didn't understand your confusion, and I agree, there seems to be a lot of vagueness in that list

I apologize for missing what your business is about...?

Thankfully, Oregon is about half Federal public lands, which are still open and easy to find solitude on.

I wonder about this.

Brown ordered all campgrounds in the state closed as part of an emergency declaration when the entire US is under a federal emergency declaration. I wonder is the same controlling authority is at work which allows governors to call out the national guard

my question is does Brown's order close all BLM and Forest Sevice campgrounds too?

Sounds like fewer riders, enhanced cleaning, and people paying attention to social distancing is keeping it somewhat safe:

That said, I won’t be riding anytime soon.
My problem is that the VA has quit providing me with an ambulance ride home after dialysis. I have to ride on a small VA bus that seats about five, two of whom can be in wheel chairs through a VA service known as VTS, Veterans' Transportation Service. The buses drop all these other passengers off first in crappy parts of East Portland where the housing is cheap and it takes them about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to get me home. Meanwhile I feel like dog shit after dialysis sometimes throwing up. When I get home it's all I can do to get to the couch and lay down while my wife fixes me a hot cup of tea with clover honey. I need that sweetened tea because it provides me with a shot in the arm so I can get through the rest of the day or at least until dinner.

The National Guard is always under the authority of the governor except when the President nationalizes it as President Kennedy nationalized Alabama's National guard making them switch from preventing Black children from attending a White school to protecting those children so they could enter the White school.
Federal parks are under the authority of the Feds and not governor Brown. Same goes for Federal buildings such as the VA hospital.

yeah, I understand all that. I just remember reading somewhere that emergency declarations can grant extended authority to governors within the state borders when there's also a national emergency declaration in place

I feel for you. My brother had kidney failure and spent a lot of years on dialysis before getting a transplant. He’s doing well now, but like others on immune-suppressant drugs, this virus has him freaked out a bit.

I've got 7 risk factors for getting Covid19 coronavirus but I am not taking any immune system suppressant drugs (knock on wood).
The only things I have going for me is that I see nurses often and get checked constantly for symptoms. I can't wait until they get enough test kits to give me a test for the virus. I'd also like to see my wife get tested.

I own a party supply retail store. Obviously it's not essential but the Mr Peeps a block away is staying open and forcing their employees to still come in and work. It's not specific enough.

Mr. Peeps? I guess I know what that's about. How do you keep out of there? Okay, just kidding.

Settle down Lanny the showroom and arcade parts are closed, lol.
Damn.
I've only been in one of those places three times when I was young and never since I met my wife. I joke and think of my younger years but I'm devoted to my wife in all honesty. Holy cow, now I've ruined my free wheeling butterfly image.

she's basically made it discretionary for the non essential business owner. Not specific enough.

Ain't no party like a Mr Peeps party!

You guys should team up!
Fat chance. I've seen you in Mr. Peeps and you hog the joint. Can't give another guy a chance. you put the five dollar bill in the machine and make the dancer shake her ass for five minutes then it's another five dollar bill. Just where do you get all that money and how do you get those girls to do those things? You know, the things no normal human being can do. Are they like all double jointed?

LOL...and you say you've never been there

the problem is some states have good social distancing and stay-at-home policies in place, while other states don't. Last I checked, Idaho has done nothing until today when they finally closed schools
Well, its interesting. Urban areas and large cities are obviously hit much harder by this then smaller places. So, its not really surprising that a place like Idaho isnt seeing the effects the same way as California or NY. Not really excusing it, but I also kind of understand it.

No, it's because transportation is a vital need even with the virus running wild.

If you don't have your own personal transportation you're part of the problem.

Anyone who spends much time boxed-in with a bunch of humans for much of their day is why we have and how we spread viruses and plagues.

Live like rats, die like rats.

Governors have no power over Federal lands.

If they did, the lands would have all been sold off decades ago.

The rat is in the White House.
