3 year contract, 14 million per year, final year is player option with a no trade clause.

What do you think?

I love that he’s back. The price doesn’t worry me as much as what his effect on the team will be after next season. The potential logjam with him, Jrue, Scoot and Shaedon (and possibly Grant?) is what I’m more concerned about given the fact that he’s a franchise icon and the politics of it all may hurt playing time for the guys that we had pivoted toward handing the reigns to.

That being said, I think it’ll all work itself out and if all four of those players end up creating that kind of problem, then the team will be better off no matter what.

Not home run but not because of price. More because of fit with team. We’ll see how it works out.

I'm conflicted. Happy he's back but if Scoot makes the jump I think he might make this year with his first healthy off-season, things might get interesting. But like most have said, it's a good problem to have.

Feel better about it after the presser.

I didn't vote as the categories didn't really fit my view. My concern is that he comes back next year with the decreased mobility of a mid-30 year old post Achilles tear and then struggles with accepting his new reality. It's most likely he'll still be able to shoot but won't have anything close to his former ability to shake defenders for open looks. He's always stunk at D and will likely be worse at that too. Will his ego be able to accept the new limitations and the real possibility of only being a role player?

Yeah I didnt answer either since the problem is fit, not money.

Voted would prefer it was cheaper. I don't hate the cost. Don't think it's going to inhibit us from doing anything else we wanted. Not worried about it, but obviously, would have loved to just land him for the minimum. And I know that's not reasonable/wasn't gonna happen. Happy he's back, and is definitely not someone I would ever count out.

I’m not worried about the money; I don’t have to pay him. It’s a home run if Dame is cool with the role Billups wants him to play, and doesn’t try to play armchair GM. If he butts heads and makes it more complicated then that’s on him.

My best guess is that management probably expects him to not be the difference making player he was as thats been the track record of this injury, but brought him back into the fold to mend fences with Blazer fans who were put off by his exit. Clearly the team is on the upswing and they want everyone along for the ride even if it's not Lillard driving the bus. 28M over two years is nothing compared to what the revenue an engaged fanbase can generate.

Home run for me.

Situations like these usually NEVER happen. It took an achilles tear to revitalize the interest in this franchise. A year of dead money really means zero to me because I expected this to be another year of internal growth anyways, regardless if he have more expectations.

Look, you are giving your new franchise PG two of the best mentors, one on either side of the ball. Dame is rehabbing all year, you know he is going to be in Scoot’s ear a lot this year and playing more of off court mentor.

I grade it a W for

Why?
When will he even play?
Will he hinder Scoot or help him?
Whole lotta money
Where does he fit long term?

China's new most popular team just got a whole lot of positive press. Even if Dame never makes it back to the court they just lined themselves up to sell a shit-ton of Dame merch plus reengaged Dame fans put off by his departure

When will he even play?
Pretty certainly in the 2026-27 season. Will he be any good is the real question.

Will he hinder Scoot or help him?
my guess is Scoot will thrive or not based on his own talent & work. If he excels though, Dame will get credit for it.

Whole lotta money
got to spend it to make it

Where does he fit long term?
In Portland, with his family living here as a favorite son.

I root for the name on the front of the jersey much more then the one on the back. As competing for championships is my primary interest following the team and since I don't see this move likely to affect that, I'd rate this move... whatever

This team will be sold and moved long before Dame is ready to put together a group to buy the team
Dame will never be relevant as an owner of the Blazers.

Does anyone care that Wade, Shaq, or Grant Hill invested in NBA teams? I bet most fans don't even know the franchises.

Doesn't matter unless you have Michael Jordan wealth to become the majority owner. But today even he couldn't afford at current 4+ billion prices.

Then at least we get Dame for a short time. Either way, having Dame here is better for himself and the community than forcing him to be somewhere else.

True. It doesn't matter. Except that Dame is actually really good at marketing and could probably be a pretty good face of the franchise.

And I don't think he would knowingly be a part of a deliberate scheme to move the team away from Oregon.

Dame can do all those things just the same with any future role being a player, coach, employee, consultant, brand ambassador, front office, announcer, spokesperson, etc with the Blazers.

Him having a totally irrelevant fraction of a % ownership or getting a paycheck doesn't change any of that.

True. I expect he'll want an ownership stake. And I could see an ownership group being interested in him for the reasons I listed above.

Him being a good will ambassador of sorts for the franchise would be great, but I really don't want him anywhere in the vicinity of personnel decisions again.

He's admitted if it's up to him Sasha Pavlovic would still be on the team because he loves all his teammates.
