Thats not entirely true though. I can list off players with average lateral agility that are good defenders. We could start with Wes Matthews.
And he said "if you don't have", not "average".

Don't even compare Doncic and Young to Trent. That's discrediting in itself. He can't do any of what they can do offensively. There's no reason to compare them.

Scouting reports on the sources I provided tend to state weaknesses in the lightest terms. And defense is mostly effort, so it's easy to say "His effort is inconsistent, he just needs to try more"... some guys just don't have that motor. He honestly reminds me of C.J. as a defender, who's defense was supposed to be solid. Same with Dame.
There are some very good offensive players that are not in the league because they can’t play defense to save their lives - but I agree with the premise of your point that they are different tiers of players.

The fact that they are harping on mostly effort, says that it’s not BBIQ, awareness, athletic ability, strength, etc. things that can’t necessarily be addressed like effort can.

Ultimately it’ll be up to him to put in the work right now, every day, all day, Kobe like, on defense until training camp begins.

Basing their worth ass a whole player because of defense is a little different then talking about a lack of quickness.

But you didn’t just talk about lack of quickness did you? You pretty much said he’s not going to be able to play in the NBA. Can’t get shot off, can’t get to the rim, passing will be nullified. Hinting he’s another Evan Turner. I mean these are your takes. I know you don’t stop posting until you get the last word in, but I’ll play along.

No, I stop posting when someone makes a good point, not continues to try to twist things up and contort the conversation.

I never said he would bust. He has terrific offensive qualities that should be able to overcome his lack of quickness, but might not. Every potential struggle I listed was in the scope of a lack of quickness, not as a whole player
Trent doesn't have the same offensive qualities as Trent, but you know that, so I don't understand where you're coming from and it seems like youre arguing just to argue.

How is Trent not quick (outside of opinions in pre-draft reviews) when he 6th in the shuttle run (lateral quickness: ahead of Grayson Allen, Divincenzo, Evans, K. Thomas and Holiday) and was 12th in the 3/4 court sprint (ahead of Grayson Allen, K. Thomas and Holiday)?

I guess Grayson Allen, Khyri Thomas and Holiday are really slow.

It does make me wonder a bit if that wasn't why we passed on Khyri Thomas. His agility numbers were not very impressive for a guard his size.

I haven't seen the Anfernee press conference...but did NO explain when Gary Trent will have his press conference? If not I'd be guessing that Trent might be getting traded after like July 7th :(

Edit: No mention of a press conference for Gary.

I hate you.

Because its a drill, that requires some mechanic skill to do efficiently as well as speed.

Watch Trent be Dame Lillard fast. I mean, I wish.

If Trent is the shooter they say he is; all he needs is the bull-dog defensive tenacity of Wes Matthews and we got a huge score.

Yeah, I know: "Ifs" What can I say: It's IF season.

Well his dad was a banger and bruiser so hopefully he inherited some of that.

The bright side is that defense (other than size) is half hustle. The other half is much easier to teach than teaching offense. If he wants it, he should be able to take it.

Then why haven't our guards been able to defend? The other half is insanely hard to teach (instinct and feel).

With the obvious exceptions of a couple guys...players have all come here and improved as players. A lot is on the coaching staff to balance the rookie's games out and get them up to nba speed...I would expect our rookies to benefit from practicing against Chief, Mo and Nurk...Zach Collins sure seemed to...I think Biggie will as well...our 3rd string roster is what it is....3rd string. I don't have my hopes up that Simons or Trent will crack the rotation rookie season unless it's garbage time in the 4th qtr in a blowout

It really depends on the final roster to open the season if they get playing time. I think of the 2 rookies I think Trent will have the best chance some time in the season to crack the rotation.

I liked @Orion Bailey's post but you're right (don't let it go to your head, oops too late). As a person with remarkable defensive insincts, I can attest its a unique ability. Wait till I get my PRP injections done, I'll D you up and you can see for yourself. OB can officiate!

Shut up, go put your makeup on, and get on the set James! Leave the ballin' to the ballas.

(The classic "PRP" excuse.... Not like I haven't heard that a billion times!!! I need practice DUMMIES for Rip City 3-on-3, getchasssss out in these streets FAMS!)

Oh damn, it did go to my head. I've never had someone tell me I'm right before. I don't like it. Tell me I'm wrong and argue with me!!!
