So you’re not a Klay Fan, eh?
I thought I would check on evaluation of Thompson's lateral quickness when he was younger; found this which supports your point: "While there are some concerns about Thompson's athleticism hurting his offensive game at the next level, the bigger concerns lie on the defensive end, where he is noticeably lacking in lateral quickness and is taken off the dribble often. Let's hope that Trent is also an exception to the rule.

@BonesJones did you even look at his combine numbers and play?

"Gary Trent Jr., another fringe first-round pick, also boosted his profile in a big way.

Although he didn't generate much buzz on the first day of the combine, the former Duke guard broke out for a game-high 22 points (7-of-11 FG, 3-of-5 3PT), two assists and zero turnovers in the scrimmage setting."

Solid game from Gary Trent Jr. in a losing effort, who led all scorers with 22. Trent's 33.5" standing vert also surprising good, third best here.

Combine that performance with a 3.08-second shuttle run and a 39.5-inch max vertical jump, and Trent seems to be trending in the right direction."

These numbers don't suggest a lack of lateral movement at all...

Actually @BonesJones his shuttle run was 2.99 seconds.

Plus found out before entering college he standing reach was 8'4" 2 inches more then the combined. I think Kentucky had that measurement of him. This when he was deciding what he was going to.

Oh shit, so hes physically degenerating at just 19?

His 8'2 standing reach is BS. It's likely to be 8'5, maybe even 8'6.

The more I think about the guys that were drafted ahead of Trent, the better the value appears to be. There's not a lot of separation between him and guys like Allen, Walker and Divincenzo imo.

Might be the best bet to shoot and although he doesn't have the tools of Lonnie or the versatility of Donte and Grayson, I'm as high or higher on his chances of settling into a bench role in the NBA.

Aesthetically, he has some Bayless in him that turns me off. Just looks awkward around the rim and overall not a very fluid athlete and don't think he'll impact the game in enough ways to be more than slightly above replacement level, but that's a fine return at #37.

Very safe pick in 2nd round.

Should that be barefoot or in shoes? If shoes, what kind of shoes? :-)

I don't care if 6" high heal shoes are used, as long as every player wears the same height shoe heal.

Simplify and standardize the players measurement procees so honest comparisons between players can be made. The process now used is too confusing.

Mugsy Bogues and Spudd Webb didn't have these shoe problems

Divencezo will be in Turkey in two years

I agree when it comes to shoe size. But then, you can see their height without shoes, so that's irrelevant.
But with wingspan and reach, guys will intentionally make standing reach shorter occasionally to increase vertical.
So if I have a good wingspan, and athleticism questions, I don't fully extend frommy shoulders, preserve 2-3inches, and then hoo from 36to 39inch vertical, and stand out more

Good answer.

It should be the responsibility of the person/s measuring that the player is not cheating. It should be verified the player is reaching as far as possible.

That's not "data" you're using, it's speculation.
His height to standing reach ratio is in the bottom 1%. Last year, his standing reach was measured at 8'4, and he measured in with a shorter height amd wingspan. How is that not data?

Exactly.
