Grade the players.

Ok well I'll be the first to post the grades based on my opinion.



Jason Kidd- A
The guy is still and the leader and the engine of the team. He keeps the team going and without him, the Nets would be almost no where. I just hope he doesn't slow down next season

Vince Carter- A-
The guy has been the big offense of the team, but he has cost us some games. From turnovers to taking jumpers instead of going in. He is a great player, but I feel he might be traded in the offseason.

Richard Jefferson- A
Really underrated and played well when Carter struggled. He seems to play well even if the team is struggling. He is a great player and I expect him to play even better next season

Nenad Krstic- A
He improved greatly this season. He was automatic when it came to open jumpshots. He is playing great even though, he struggled a bit in the playoffs. Just a great player, who will continue to improve

Jason Collins- B+
Isn't an offensive player at all, but he played excellent defense. He played great defense on Shaq and you just can't ask for more. He does shy away from any player. Defense is his game and I hope the Nets keep him.

Cliff Robinson- B
Gave us sparks of the bench, and like Collins played great defense on players. He had times where he played great on offense and defense. Great player but he lastest suspension ruined his chances to stay with the Nets.

Lammond Murray- C+
Had some good games when his shot was falling. One of the positive players of the bench, which doesn't say much

Scott Padgett- D+
Had some good games early in the season but just fell out of the rotation and never recovered.

Jacque Vaughn- B
Good backup for Kidd and just a defensive pest, which the Nets really need. He had good moments with the Nets, but is mostly known for his good defense against the guards.

Antoine Wright- C
Wasn't really and impact, but when he was given minutes he showed some skills but he has to try to improve this offseason more. I'm sure he will get more minutes next season.

Zoran Planinic- D
He wasn't a factor at all. Had 4 good games but other than that, he did nothing. Maybe it was because of the lack of minutes.

Jeff McInnis- F
Not a factor and his injury just made it worse for him

John Thomas- N/A
Bostjan Nachbar- N/A

Jason Kidd- A
Any team would pay a lot of money for a player like Kidd. His leadership skills and his ability to make the players around him better have been showcased this season. Without him, we're a 30 win team.

Vince Carter- B+
I want to give him an A, but I just can't. He had a very good season, but he didn't do more than expected and his bad decision making has cost us some games. May be traded, but only if the Nets find a team willing to trade a superstar back. You'll be seeing a lot of talk about Kevin Garnett, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, Paul Pierce and Allen Iverson joining the Nets in a trade with Carter, but I expect VC to don a Nets jersey next season, too.

Richard Jefferson- A+
One season after breaking his hand, RJ has been amazing. He is one of the most efficient and consistent players in the league, and he has improved a lot of his game: his jumpshot, for example, has been much better than last season. He started the season unbelievably, and though he wasn't like that the whole season, he's been great.

Nenad Krstic- A
Nenad has improved even more than RJ, but he's still not a post presence. He has prefered to take jump shots rather than banging in the paint, but you can't say that he has been dissapointing. In fact, he's been much better than many expected, and his 3rd place in the MIP voting shows that. If Boris Diaw had stayed in Atlanta and Chris Paul had gone there too, instead of going to NO-OKC and helping out David West improve by leaps and bounds, Krstic might have actually won the award. I don't think Nenad will ever be a post presence, and will be a jump shooting big man, like most big Europeans, but expect him to have an important role in the Nets' future.

Jason Collins- C
If Twin hadn't been so solid on defense, this grade would be much lower. He has been invisible offensively, and he hasn't been as consistent this season as he had been in previous seasons, mostly because of nagging injuries. Every year, everybody expects him to improve to a 10/10/2 kind of player, and every year he's dissapointed, including this one.

Cliff Robinson- B+
Was the best player aged 35+ in the league this season, no doubt. If it wasn't for his idiotic decision to smoke drugs in the most important part of the season, he would've probably retired as a Net. But now, there's some doubt about that. He was still good defensively and still posed as a threat from 3 point land. Our best benchie.

Lammond Murray- C-
Wasn't nearly the shooter we were looking for off the bench, but showed some improvement near the end of the season. Might lose his role by next season if the Nets draft/sign a shooter or give Antoine Wright and Bostjan Nachbar more playing time.

Scott Padgett- D
Not much to say here. With Krstic's improvement and Cliff Robinson and Marc Jackson taking large pieces of the playing time Padgett expected, his role has been very minimal. Had a few good games, but nothing much.

Jacque Vaughn- A
You can't say anything bad about Jacque's season. He earned his playing time by playing excellent defense on nearly all the guards in the league, and he has been the best defender on the Nets' bench all season long.

Antoine Wright- N/A
Was a non-factor for the Nets. He barely played, and thus this grade is incomplete. Expect him to play more next season.

Zoran Planinic- D+
Played well near the end of the season when he got more minutes, but didn't do enough to really help the team out.

Jeff McInnis- F
He and everyone else expected him to be a 20 mpg backup point guard for Kidd, but Vaughn got that role and his injury ended his time as a Net early. 1% chance that he'll be a Net next season.

John Thomas- N/A
Bostjan Nachbar- N/A

Jason Kidd: B
Kidd is the Nets captain. He goes, the Nets go. The Nets have had a good season, but not excellent. If I were to grade the whole team, I would give it a B, therefore, I give Kidd a B.

Vince Carter: B+
Not a bad season, but I think that he could have done more with his athletic ability and skill. His effort was there, but not always. His shot selection and consistency were not excellent.

Richard Jefferson: A
Although he did not average the numbers that he is physically and skillfully able to average, he was extremely efficient. He was an ultimate teammate this season, giving up shots for Vince. He played defense hard every night, and was very consistent.

Nenad Krstic: A-
Had we erased the begining of the season, Krstic would recieve an A. Toward the end of the season, he started to play big, tough, and in crunch time. He is also begining to play defense quite well. Krstic did not become considered one of the big four for no reason this season.

Jason Collins: B
Always tough to grade, Collins, played good consistent defense all year long. Pain did not stop him, and the Nets struggled without him in the lineup. His offensive lack, as ussual, makes his grade drop.

Clifford Robinson: D
He played very well all season long. He was supurb off of the bench considering his abilities and skills, but if a student fails a final exam badly, there is little that can pump the grade upto an A, B, or C. Clifford failed his exam by getting himself suspended.

Lamond Murray: B-
Complained a little bit in the begining of the season about playing time, but kept his mouth shut later, and after being patient, ended up in the Nets playoffs rotation. He made some very good shots and some defensive plays. Considering his playing time and what the Nets needed he deserves a B. But because he complained in the the begining, he drops to a B-.

Scott Padgett: B
He did not comlain about playing time, and played hard when ever he was asked to play. Considering his physical and skill wise abilities, Padgett had a good season.

Jacque Vaughn: A
Hustled all season long. Expectations for him were low, but he managed to crack the rotation anyway. Defensivly and offensivly, did what he could and was asked to do. An excellent season for him.

Antione Wright: C
Cracked the rotation at the end of the season, but only showed that he needs time to develop both mentally and physically. He still has potential to succeed, but will have to work hard next seasont to break into the rotation.

Zoran Planinic: C
Same a Wright, with the exception that he does not have the same potential. Like Wright, Planinic needs to work much more diligently to break into the rotation.

Jeff McInnis: Inc.
He got injured, so there is no way that we can grade him.

John Thomas: B+
This guy came in from no where, into a very comlicated offense, and managed to get some stops against Shaq, and score some points. Very good work from him.

Bostjan Nachbar: Inc.
Came late, and did not really play.

How does Vaughn and Thomas get a better grade than Kidd. And Collins and <u>Padgett</u> get the same grade as him. That doesn't make sense. Kidd doesn't really get a good explanation, yet Carter looks bad in your grade opinion and he still gets a better grade. ?

Even with the suspension, Cliff did better than Planinic, Murray, Padgett, and Wright and you give him a D?

My grading is different because I heavily factor in a player's ability and expectations. I also heavily factor a player's role on the team, hense Kidd's grade (He is the captain, and was graded on how the team did overall). Regarding Cliff, he might have done better, but I strongly believe that he cost us the season with the suspension.
