I know Nash is trying to recruit Grant Hill to the Lakers, and that's got to be very tempting, but it strikes me that we need just someone like that to come in and be a veteran influence. Batum has remarked (in some interview or other) that the team lost its "voice in the locker room" when Marcus Camby got traded. Now, that might be a good thing, since the team went to shit before he left, but it points to the need for someone who's been there and isn't afraid to lead. Ideally, that would've been Chauncey Billups, but I think he's signed elsewhere (and Quick said he "wasn't an option"). Hill probably isn't either, because I can't really see him picking us over the Lakers minus some pretty amazing inducements (and the chance to sleep with Eric might not be enough). (I kid, Eric: we're not going to ask you to whore yourself out. Well, we might ask...)
Derek Fisher is another one like that, but the stench of the Lakers is thick upon him, and again, he's unlikely to come. Any other suggestions?

Depends on who is actually on the team, but if Hibbert somehow makes it here, Hill would be a nice addition

Might be a good get if you get Hibbert. I don't think he would sign here though. He probably chases the ring. I looked at the available FA's and the only other vet that stood out to me is probably Barbosa. He seems like he could be a great locker room guy. Remember when he produced the Avatar Suns video? Here are some others that caught my eye:

Haddadi (I have always been intrigued by him)
Yi (just for entertainment value on this board alone!),
Josh Howard (if you lose Batum he might be a good guy to target and he would love Oregon and its herbalistic tendencies)
Louis Williams
Randy Foye (it has to be karma -- you were traded for Brandon Roy now you can replace Brandon Roy)

Can't say any of those leap out at me. Elton Brand, perhaps?

I doubt he'd be at all interested in us, but I would be all for it.

If we get Hibbert, someone like Hill would be fine. If no Hibbert, I would rather have young guys play so we can see if they're any good.

Yet some say we traded Camby because of his negative influence in the locker room. I can imagine him helping young players through not getting to play even in the many blowouts, thus earning McMillan's jealousy. But I still think that we gave away Camby (Houston later traded him for far more than they gave us) purely to get cap space to bid for Hibbert.
