Just saw this:

Michael Pina of The Ringer put together 20 bold predictions for the upcoming NBA season, and one of them directly involves the Lakers. They believe that LA will make a deal with the Portland Trailblazers for a recently resigned forward.

“Jerami Grant will end up on the Lakers: I mentioned this possibility in a recent column. Maybe it won’t happen. Maybe the Blazers will find a different trade partner or the Lakers won’t be willing to meet Portland’s asking price. But ever since Damian Lillard’s trade request went public, Grant to the Lakers has felt like a fait accompli.”

Per Michael Pina of The Ringer

Grant has been linked to the Lakers for some time now, but a trade has never come to fruition. Since he faced off against LA in the 2020 Western Conference Finals, many have put the two together.

He didn’t back down against LeBron James then, and James acknowledged his toughness. Grant would be a good fit for this Lakers team, but the issue is his contract. He just signed a massive deal to remain in Portland and it’s not likely that the Lakers will be willing to take that on.

Grant would go broke with all the designer shops in LA.

me: ‘no, we don’t need herro’
Also me looking at Reaves: ‘I’ll allow it’

I honestly don't really see the Lakers being interested. Or if they are, they won't offer much. They'd be stupid to offer Reaves (but if they did, we'd be even more stupid not to take him), and I can't see who else we'd want. They've actually recently proven Miami-Heat-level good at finding bargain players and developing them. Before Reaves there was Caruso and Horton-Tucker et. al.

We won't get much for Jerami, whatever happens, and we might keep him around just because he's a good locker-room guy and very low maintenance.

Reaves and Herro aren't much alike. Actually, temperament-wise, they should swap teams. The Lakers kind of out-Heated the Heat in getting and developing Reaves.

I hope the Lakers get him. He’ll ruin their championship dreams.

They don't have the contracts/picks/youth that would interest me.

Vando consistently appears HIGH on our list of targets but only makes 4 mil. Him plus Russell gets them match the salary, but why would they give up their starting PG and a good defensive wing for Jerami? Not a good match no matter how much LA media thinks it's a foregone conclusion. We similarly had CJ singing Grant's praises when JG was in Denver in hopes of drawing him to Portland in 2020. The irony is strong here.

So you're telling me the rumor is that the big market team is to take small market Portland's talent and there is no mention of what they give up? Fishing for clicks 101

Seems like a bored editorialist's pipe dream on a slow news day. This is not going to happen. Lakers don't have the room to absorb his contract nor would they want to at this point.

Joe got Grant a handful of vets along his timeline to mentor the rookies. Grant is happy in Portland. He loves Chauncey and has said so many times.

From solely a matching salaries perspective.......Reeves and Hachimura
I'd love that but don't think there is any way they give up Reeves. He was their clearly third best player after AD LBJ.

We probably take on DiAngelo Russell contract or flip it to a 3rd team but get the Lakers pick.

I think you are right and I would not be a fan of that whatsoever. That is essentially what the Jazz did last year in helping the Lakers.

Perfect. A guy making $160 million to create a good locker room vibe for a team that’s going nowhere this year.

Would need a third team for Russell. He’s the last thing this team needs. Unfortunately for LA not many other teams need him either.

I’m sure AD would love that.

AD was bitching about playing center too much supposedly, so they’re gonna go out and get *another* PF?
