But the question had to be asked. What does he think of the maturation of Nicolas Batum? "He's one of my favorite guys in the league," said Prince without hesitation.
"No question. And I'm just not saying that because you asked me about him. I like guys who can do a little bit of everything."

Prince has heard the comparisons. He knows Batum's game has been compared to his and Scottie Pippen since the 6-8 small forward arrived in Portland three seasons ago from France. In that short time, Batum has gone from an unknown overseas prospect who struggled in his first Las Vegas Summer League back in 2008 to a main scoring option for Portland behind Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge. Prince has been keeping tabs along the way, even seeing visions of himself at times in Batum.

"Stars get credit in this league, but guys like him don't get enough. Guys like Marcus Camby don't get enough - guys who can do a little bit of everything and share the ball. They make the hustle plays at the right time," added Prince, who is now in his eighth year in the league with Detroit.

Another home-run interview/story by Wendell.

That's very sweet. Gotta love Batum for seeing Prince as a role model, and Prince for accepting Batum as the next (and potentially better) version of himself.

I'm shocked that Prince is only in his 8th year.

He's not. That's an error by the author. Prince is in his 9th NBA season, and he played 4 years at Kentucky. So, he's old for a 9th year player.

Aha. Prince has been around forever. Still, he has a Pooh Richardson 'been around forever' quality about him.

Awesome. Cool to hear from a guy like Tayshaun pay attention to and be aware of a guy like Nicolas.

At this stage of his career he'd be nice to have as a backup PF/SF.

Also as a mentor to Nic and maybe a little of TP's post game can rub off a little.

Prince is why Detroit didn't draft Melo.

Ooops.

Melo championships? 0
Prince championships? 1

I guess it worked out OK

It wasn't a choice between them. It was a choice between Anthony and Milicic. While they won a title without Anthony, they'd have been in much better shape for every season after that.

They should have drafted Durant.
