So first anyone disagreeing with you and posting they're opinion was a homer, then all the homers were HCP-in, and now the board is full of followers? (following who BTW?)

Letting you know I think your posts/arguments are poorly carried out isn't because I'm a card carrying member of the 'Mixum haters', it's because I genuinely think your positions are hyperbolic and poorly defended.

As I said. They are the same, yet in a bizarro sense.

Maybe Maxiep can stalk him some more to find out if he has a wife/gf, and then a number of posters can make inappropriate remarks about seeing her too...

I've come to a sad realization - reading this forum is actually turning me against the team.

A year ago, I said the theme for the 09-10 season needed to be "no more excuses." Instead, Blazerdom has degenerated into "excuses-R-us!" :sigh:

Keep your chin up and remember that not only do none of us here (barring, perhaps, HCP and his tranquilizer darts that he projects from his camera) can actually influence the games or players, but many of us don't even know what we're talking about.

That's the spirit! Other fans with optimism and hope for their favorite sports team (which is for entertainment, let me remind you) has somehow upset you enough to turn against your team.

I think the Blazers will beast this year. Homer up!!!! Greg, once he hits the floor, is going to dominate. Andre and Roy are going to play off each other MUCH better. Batum is going to get 32 minutes a game and solidify our SF spot. LMA will push to be an all-star. Oden/Matthews/Batum/Camby/Pryz, will contribute to Portland holding their opponents to under 45% shooting average, and Portland will be one of the top 5 defensive teams in the league. BEASTING this YEAR. Homer up!!!!! 56 wins, WCF appearance. HOMER IT UP!!!!!

Dude, you're on a sports team's message board. Don't you know that it isn't "cool" to be a Homer supporting your team???

If you're a #1 pick who can't jump without breaking your knee and you can't stay on the court when you're healthy, well let's say you are a HUGE disappointment.

True. But it remains to be seen whether he stays that way. If he continues to hugely disappoint, he'll be a bust.

If he has a run of health, he'll have a bust in the Hall of Fame. <---Fearless prediction for healthy Oden

Let's look at the facts:

#1 pick, fragile, 82 games in 3 seasons, unable to start 4th season, career averages 9.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.4 bpg

Bust?

Healthy Oden = career averages of 9 & 7.

Let's look at the facts:

#1 pick, fragile, 82 games in 3 seasons, unable to start 4th season, career averages 9.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.4 bpg

Bust?

And what are the "facts" for moving forward for the rest of his career?

Compare to #1 pick David Robinson after two years off before rookie year:

24.3 ppg, 12.0 , 2.0 apg, 1.7 spg, 3.9 bpg and his competition at the center position was much tougher back then

Compared to that, 9.4 & 7.3 is an epic bust.

Healthy Oden last year: 23.1 PER and great defense.

Durant: 26.2 PER with average defense.

One month of PER? That's all you got. Fuck David Lee has better PER than Kobe Bryant. Who is the better player? Is it close?

One month of PER? That's all you got.

His PER was also solid in his rookie season. And no, that's not all...I also mentioned his great defense. He's a tremendously efficient scorer, one of the best rebounders in the game and a great team defender. He would be a great man defender except that his foul rate diminishes that. So while injuries and fouls have kept his raw production down, his play while on the court has been tremendous.

We can speculate about whether his health and foul troubles will change in the future, but I'm pretty comfortable with Oden's level of play (in the context of a top pick) when he has been on the court.

Clyde Drexler's rookie campaign: 7.7 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.9 apg 0.3 bpg

Compare that to LeBron James rookie season: 20.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 5.9 apg, 1.6 spg, 0.7 bpg

Compared to THAT, 7.7 & 2.9 Clyde Drexler is an epic bust.

Regardless, you should probably let Greg Oden put in a full body of work before you dig up some stats and compare him to one of the greatest defensive centers in league history.

Just a minor difference between David Robinson and Greg Oden: Robinson played 4 years of college ball and was an established player by the time he started in the NBA. Oden played one year of college ball and was considered by everyone to be a project. Robinson played 36 minutes per game as a rookie. Greg may never approach Robinson's career stats, but it would be nice to at least see what he can do after a couple of years of significant minutes before labeling him a bust.

David Robinson was 24 as a rookie. Oden won't be 24 til 2012.

Nah, you're just a homer. :p Stop spewing your sunshine and rainbows.

If those were Clyde's numbers after three seasons and he had only played 82 games and was missing the beginning of his 4th season, he would have been a HUGE bust.

If you're not ready to produce, don't enter the draft.

And then he explodes and becomes a 10-Time All-Star, One of the 50 Greatest Players of All Time, and Olympic Gold Medalist. :)

Honestly, I think Greg's bust label status is pending, considering his career is far from over. So like I said, which you seemingly ignored, let the guy put in some work before you jump to conclusions.

If you're not ready to produce, don't enter the draft.

Why not? Players get paid whether they produce or not. It's up to teams to decide whether it's worth investing in young players.

In any event, I don't think anyone can predict whether they're going to have a series of injuries they've never had before, so I don't think that whether Oden was "ready to produce" or not could be predicted.

HOMER UP!

Outside of his opinions of Oden, isn't Speed the biggest Homer of all time? He literally thinks Outlaw is an all-star. I'm so confused right now.

HOMER UP!

here we go with you annoying homers.... and its really the same guys.

because kingspeed isnt ready to send oden to the hall of fame and sees what everyone outside of blazerland does... HES WRONG. Thats it.... no argument. Thats what happens when you aren't HCP-ING it around here. Disgusting. Mick whatever the hell his name is leading the parade.

Oden is certainly HOF bound. You're nutz if you think otherwise. Haven't you seen him play? Easily HOF material. Man, you must not get many Blazer games on the East Coast. Homer up.
