I think that is you, STOMP. Always bagging on posters, not really offering any B-ball opinions, and then chiming in from time to time and PMing the people you are "ignoring". You're the critic who won't even try to justify his lame opinions.

back to the original point, if I may...does anyone think that patellar tendonitis is another in the long line of catastrophic Oden injuries? Or that it might lead to it? I mean, from what it sounds like the bones are healed and it's "just" knee pain that 50% of the league goes through at some point.

What's the rationale for those that think he's not going to make it through the season? Just the fact that he hasn't done it before?

Calm down there, MIXUM.

Compare to #1 pick David Robinson after two years off before rookie year:

24.3 ppg, 12.0 , 2.0 apg, 1.7 spg, 3.9 bpg and his competition at the center position was much tougher back then

Compared to that, 9.4 & 7.3 is an epic bust.
David Robinson's NBA career started when he was 24 years old... Greg is 22 this year

both missed two years of hoops, but maybe it would make more sense to compare their NBA numbers in a couple years when they're the same age?

Here's an answer. I think someone's just trying to scare us.

Patellar TENDONOSIS (degeneration of the tendon) is often misdiagnosed as patellar TENDONITIS (simple inflammation). The Blazers claim Oden has the lesser problem, but his blowout last year means he really has the one which is much more complicated to repair. His current weight loss won't translate into better mobility, given the lasting damage to both knees.
