Funny, I am reading a book right now by Albert Brooks, the comic actor. His first novel. Very enjoyable read. The protagonist cures cancer in 2030 (but he's not named Greg Oden!)

I meant to say, Greg Oden will change his name to Sam Mueller and cure cancer.

How about all the other scenarios this season? As in he does not 'take' the QO, but:
a) accepts Blazers's multi-year offer
b) signs multi-year deal with another team, and Blazers match
c) signs multi-year deal with another team, and Blazers don't match

Why would he not take the QO? I doubt he gets a similar offer from anywhere else.

I think he'll sign the QO and that will ultimately be bad news for us. I think he'll play and he'll play well after which he'll be a UFA. By then we'll be handicapped by the salary cap and we won't be able to match an offer by another team. We should have locked him up now.

One and done ... By that I mean he'll play in one game and his knee is going burst into flame.

I voted he will sign and resign with us next season.

I fear he will sign and leave.

I think it just as likely he will not sign, his agent will entertain offers, and we will match those offers, thus retaining him for "market value."

The only reason for Greg to accept the QO at this time would be if he was really pissed at the Blazers, absolutely wanted out of town, and wanted to make sure they couldn't match an offer from another team. In that scenario, he'd sign the QO, play for one year and become an UFA the following summer. Nothing he's said is consistent with that notion and it would be a ridiculously risky proposition, given his injury history, for him to take that route vs. getting a multi-year deal from the Blazers or another team this season.

What I expect Greg to do is to pocket the QO, knowing that he can sign it anytime he wants up until March 1st, and then sit back, wait for the new CBA to be signed and then look at offers from other teams and the Blazers before making up his mind about what he wants to do.

He'll get an offer before next season for multiple years and Big-Man dollars, from someone and the Blazers will match!! That's my prediction.

Not take offer sheet. He signs 3 or 4 year deal.

I thought this said Greg Odens will, and figured, death, that makes sense

I would have selected "Gets teleported to an alternate dimension and becomes that world's greatest hero, Odan The Barbarian."

But oddly enough that wasn't an option.

Oden's going to accept the QO, stay healthy, look like a young Shaq and then leave in free agency after the Blazers lose the Finals due to a bad call at end of Game 7.

So, exciting season coming up!
