Greg- Sinus Infection

If there's a Wuss Hall of Fame, Oden is going to be in it.

There are probably a dozen NBA players right now with a sore jaw, aching ribs, large bruises, or a stiff back right now thanks to Oden. They would probably disagree with you.

A wuss is a guy like Derek Anderson, who misses a game because of a toothache. Or Theo Ratliff, who mailed in an entire season without any discernible excuse.

Every one of Oden's injuries have been legit. Microfracture surgery. Chipped patella. Broken hand. Tonsilitis. Other than the tonsils, the recurring theme from those other injuries is that they are a side effect of playing a very non-wuss style of play.

and i dont care if you think im being negative or not... we need oden or we are in trouble even if its just 1 game. we need to win EVERY home game... not 3 EVERY HOME GAME

Well considering I have had sinus infections that have taken me out for days, I think you should shut the fuck up. You obviously aren't the one that is sick here, and obviously have no idea how good or not good he feels. If he is feeling bad, he might be more detriment than good to the team.

I know, I know. I'm overreacting. Still, I get so frustrated with Oden's development, it makes me want to tear my hair out. The guy is just one disappointment after another.

Patience, grasshopper, patience . . . That's what I have to keep telling myself.

Does anyone have a more reliable source than Twitter? Blazers official site? NBA.com? ESPN?

I can post on Twitter that Sergio & Rudy are skipping the game to go home to Spain and be married. To each other. Doesn't make it true.

Well, this is the live Twitter feed from the Blazers that is relayed through Blazersedge. So, it's not at all like you posting that Rudy and Sergio are getting married.

You can't make this stuff up.

First, we luck into Oden in the lottery, go hog wild, and then he misses his entire rookie season.

Second, we're all jazzed up to see him on opening night, but he sprains his ankle and is out for 6 games.

Now, just as we're about to return to the playoffs for the first time in years, he gets a sinus infection.

As I said, you can't make this stuff up.

not to mention theres no worse team we could have faced where we really need him. i mean vs teh spurs hornets jazz mavs... we could get by but vs houston... we BADLY need oden

amazing...

Whats with the "We"' comment. The only time you say we need XXXXXXXX is when you have something negative to say. Otherwise, after big wins against playoff caliber teams your nowhere to be found. The day we win the championship you'll still find a way to turn it negative (can we repeat, are we going to lose our good players to free agency, we didn't deserve to win/the refs bailed us out, were the weakest team to ever win the trophy etc...) Its always something with you. I think what I love most about this year is that the Blazers have exceeded EVERYONES expectations (fans, media, yours) and you really have to grasp to find any negatives with the Blazers.

The tests could be to see if he got the damn cold from Nic.

Oden hasn't been much of a factor for us against Houston. Some say that Houston has more problems against small teams..

So hopefully Channing Frye will carry over some of that magic he had Wednesday night.

So, Oden has a sinus infection, he follows team orders and goes to see the doctors to get it checked out, the coach says he's a gametime decision, and some of you people here decide to blast Greg because of this chain of events? Pa-the-tic! Where is he at fault? Has he said he's not going to play if it's up to him? Nope. The coach says he will make the decision tomorrow based on information that he doesn't yet have available to him. Seems like everybody's doing the reasonable thing except for some overly excitable folks on this board.

He had a sinus infection prior to summer league and he played through it. This is the fucking playoffs, and if I was a betting man, he's going to play through it. Book it.

He had tonsilitis. I've never had a sinus infection, but I heard they are really bad, like it hurts everytime you take a step.

I think you're missing the point. Oden--for whatever reason--never seems to come through when we need him. Call it bad luck, call it karma, or coincidence, it just seems to be the case.

I actually agree with MIXUM on this one.

It would be pathetic IF Greg misses a game because of a sinus infection. I'm not blasting Greg, but if that decision is made, whoever made it should be questioned.

I've competed many, many times at the NCAA level with a sinus infection. You take some antibiotics, and it is like competing with a cold.

he's a rookie! on Brandon's team! come on..

Tell me about it. For all we know is it is a mild head cold that he got from Nic and McMillan ordered him to go get checked out and told him not to practice in order to not infect anyone else. It is easier to play it safe then not. This board really does seem to thrive off of negative energy. Its disturbing.

I'm not missing anything. Certain weasels here are saying Greg is a wuss and acting as though he's at fault here. That's BS.

I understand your (and most of our's) frustrations about Greg's unfortunate injury history, but last I heard a sinus infection isn't an injury. I'd also be pretty surprised if he doesn't play. Sinus infections suck. I've had my share and they can make your whole face ache like hell, but I'd be willing to bet that he plays if the doctors will let him.

Everyone needs to stop freaking out.

How do you know that Oden isn't playing tomorrow? How can you blast someone for not coming through when you don't even know if he is going to play yet?

Just admit you're welshing on your agreement.

I don't, I don't! But I'm sick and tired of these Oden "injuries," or "sicknesses," or "problems" of some kind raining on our parade. Aren't you? Hopefully Greg will play tomorrow, but the guy seems to be a walking basket case.

How's Oden a 'basket case' for getting sick.

For fucks sake if your going to be irrationally negative at least use an idiom that makes sense.
