Greg- Sinus Infection

Welcome to our community

I don't, I don't! But I'm sick and tired of these Oden "injuries," or "sicknesses," or "problems" of some kind raining on our parade. Aren't you? Hopefully Greg will play tomorrow, but the guy seems to be a walking basket case.

Of course its frustrating to think about but I'm betting that Oden will play tomorrow. This is probably something that he picked up from Batum, who btw missed a game with same sort of illness and missed a couple of games during when he injured his ankle (both injuries were at times when we were in must win games). Why weren't people getting on him like they are Oden? Its like everyone has already set up Oden to be the fall guy when we don't play well.

So, Oden has a sinus infection, he follows team orders and goes to see the doctors to get it checked out, the coach says he's a gametime decision, and some of you people here decide to blast Greg because of this chain of events? Pa-the-tic! Where is he at fault? Has he said he's not going to play if it's up to him? Nope. The coach says he will make the decision tomorrow based on information that he doesn't yet have available to him. Seems like everybody's doing the reasonable thing except for some overly excitable folks on this board.
those same few overly excitable folks have a cow over every little thing and inevitably digress into hurling four letter insults at each other... after a while you've got to conclude they live for the hysteria rather then the games. Those folks are why we collectively have the reputation as whiny fans.

Thanks guys, much appreciated!

I guess Greg is a wuss for missing practice but Nic isn't when he missed a game. I highly doubt Greg is going to miss tomorrow's game. If he still isn't feeling well they'll pump him full of fluids and meds to clear up anything and he'll play.

I think you're on to something here. This "over reaction" by fans is not coming out of left field . . . it has been conditioned into us by Oden's history. If this was Batum, everyone shruggs and say it sucks but what can you do . . . I think because there is no reason to have other thoughts.

BUt with Oden, I can't remember an injury or symptom that was announced that eneded up not getting worse before it got better. There has got to be some right? Becuase explatory surgery for knee pain turned into microfracture surgery. Flu like symptoms turned into having to get tonsils removed. A bruised knee where he could play if he had to turned into missing multiple games.

We as Blazer fans have been conditioned to believe whatever report there is about Oden's health will turn into a another report with worse news. I hope the trend stops right now . . . but I get some of the over reaction on the board.

Sinus infections rob one of stamina, as it's not possible to process oxygen as efficiently, I believe.

So, clearly that would have impact on whether Oden plays and how much. Personally, I think he plays but, like Batum, he may not be able to go all out for a lot of minutes. NBA basketball is exhausting and being unable to oxygenate one's self efficiently is going to make a major difference.

It's "minor" as far as health goes but far from unimportant.

anyone else think this might be mind games? As in, Nate is just trying to mess with Houston's gameplan by announcing this and Oden will definitely play.

Nate's not that devious.

Oden HAS to play.

Does anyone have a more reliable source than Twitter? Blazers official site? NBA.com? ESPN?

I can post on Twitter that Sergio & Rudy are skipping the game to go home to Spain and be married. To each other. Doesn't make it true.

there. I posted it on Twitter. #uprise.

So in other words, Greg is just sick. This is a non-issue to me.

and i dont care if you think im being negative or not... we need oden or we are in trouble even if its just 1 game. we need to win EVERY home game... not 3. EVERY HOME GAME

Motion to Ban. Administrators cannot deny that mixum promised everyone on this board he would quit complaining once we made the playoff's. And now that we made the playoff's with HCA, MIXUM should officially be banned for being such a Troll, to go to the extent of informing everyone, in CAPS LOCKS, of how the playoff's work in the National Basketball Association. GTFO

Oden will play.

Of course he will it's a new season. PLAYOFFS 2009

Oden should play and be all up on Yao's grill, hopefully spreading his infection and taking him out = Blazers in the second round.

Damn! How are you all going to react if we lose one of these first 2 games!!!??

I heard from someone who saw on the internets that Rudy and Sergio are going to Spain to get married. Any updates? Is that before or after the playoffs?

Almost every injury to any Blazer this year has ended up either being more serious than originally reported and/or taken long to recover from than originally reported. Not just Oden.

As for the varying reactions to Batum sickness vs. Oden's... I think a large part is one was the #1 draft pick two years ago, while the other wasn't expected to get off the bench after summer league.

LOL that doesn't sound right

I don't think so.

Joel had a broken wrist . . . that injury didn't get worse and he continued to play.

Batum had his illness and was back playing next game

Rudy had a scary fall but that quickly got better.

Frye came back quicker than expected from his injury

Outlaw and Roy has the finger issue and played through it.

Blake tried to come back early, hurt it again, but then stayed on schedule.

Off the top of my head it has been Webster and Oden who have missed more games than originally announced. I don't think it is about being the #1 pick . . . if this was Oden's first or second brush with injury/symtoms, I don't think you would get the same reaction that is going on now. In fact posters who are "concerned/over reacting" have brought up the past. But who knows . . . maybe Go can't catch a break from some because of where he was drafted . . . as stated before I think a lot of this frustration is due to his past physical problems.

Let's remember that Roy also had an off-season surgery he did not only recover from - but made a big jump in his production...

Wrong. Roy, Webster, Blake, and Oden all had original time-tables for returning that ended up being lengthened, in most cases more than once.

Bullseye!

The Blazers have largely brought this on themselves.

BTW, if Oden does miss the game, any bets that Simmons or somebody writes a column claiming the Blazers held him out because his tender psyche couldn't handle getting owned by Yao?

Can people please stop quoting MIXUM. I have him on ignore and yet I still get to see some of his inane comments. Don't feed the troll and he won't keep coming back for food.

Well now you are going from every injury to these players. I agree with you about Webster and Oden . . . I don't recall about Roy or Blake, but if you say so I believe that. So 4 players this year . . . I do think that Oden sticks out because not only did he miss more games than expected, his diagnosis gets worse most of the time.

But hey, I see this as a chance for Oden to start breaking the image that his injuries/diagnosis appear to get worse over time. If he comes out strong tomorrow . . . well you are only as injury prone as your last injury???

OK maybe not . . . but something like that.

Anyone that worries about this is an idiot, and you are being led by the king of all idiots aka Canzano.

Blake came back "too early" and re-injured himself. I don't know about Roy.
