Greg- Sinus Infection

He had tonsilitis. I've never had a sinus infection, but I heard they are really bad, like it hurts everytime you take a step.

No, he had a sinus infection.

Olive July 6, 2007:
Oden will not be at 100 percent when he makes his debut. He is still battling the sinus infection that he caught last week in New York.

"It hasn't gone away,'' Oden said of his cold. "But I'm still taking my pills, blowing my nose, using the nasal spray.''

Well now you are going from every injury to these players. I agree with you about Webster and Oden . . . I don't recall about Roy or Blake, but if you say so I believe that. So 4 players this year . . . I do think that Oden sticks out because not only did he miss more games than expected, his diagnosis gets worse most of the time.

But hey, I see this as a chance for Oden to start breaking the image that his injuries/diagnosis appear to get worse over time. If he comes out strong tomorrow . . . well you are only as injury prone as your last injury???

OK maybe not . . . but something like that.

Yeah, Roy was originally listed as day-to-day, but missed about two weeks. About two games after his original injury, the Blazers learned Blake would be out 2-4 weeks, longer than expected. After he came back too early and got reinjured, Blake was listed as doubtful for a game 3 days away, but it ended up being over 3 weeks before he came back.

But you're right, Oden has more separate issues that fall into this category than anyone else. However, with his last injury, I remember reading that the Blazers had been told by doctors that Oden would be out for an extended period of time originally, but for some reason they decided tell everyone that his time-table was considerably shorter, then gradually they extended it, making Oden look to some like he didn't want to play basketball. I thought that was very unfair to Oden.

I heard on the radio a half hour ago that he was listed as probable.

If he's had it for a week, I'm sure he'll play. The medicines athletes can get are far superior to those us normal folks use.

Wow. Talk about a fucking meltdown over a pretty inconsequential announcement. I've had a couple of sinus infections in my day (deviated septum from a thrice broken nose doesn't help) and you feel cruddy and it makes it hard to breathe through your nose, but this really shouldn't be anything that keeps him on the sideline ... unless it's something way more serious than a sinus infection.

They'll give him a mega-dose of anti-biotics, shoot him up with some IV fluids (if needed) and away we go.

As far as I know he hasn't had it for a week. They said he felt like crap this morning. He'll push through though.

Edit . . . I'll PM you

Well, if he's really sick, maybe they should suit him up and have him accidently sneeze all over the Rockets faces.

Crap. I apparently missed one amazing knock-down drag-out fight . . . Look at all those "edits."

lol i cant speak for everyone else but i did that myself. i assumed most of the others were too

I'm not missing anything. Certain weasels here are saying Greg is a wuss and acting as though he's at fault here. That's BS.

I understand your (and most of our's) frustrations about Greg's unfortunate injury history, but last I heard a sinus infection isn't an injury. I'd also be pretty surprised if he doesn't play. Sinus infections suck. I've had my share and they can make your whole face ache like hell, but I'd be willing to bet that he plays if the doctors will let him.

:shitstorm:

Heh

Ya, unless it showed a mod did the edit the poster did it himself. Even a mod did it to himself. That's sick.

Piling on Greg because he's sick? That's pathetic.

If Greg is sick and contagious, do you think he should tough it out? That would be great. Then you can pile on Greg for making the rest of the team sick and ruining our playoff run.

Do any of you miss work because you're sick? Does that make you a wuss?

Greg will play if he can. If he can't, we will all just have to get the hell over it.

Actually it seems like he'd be more likely to get Yao sick before anyone else. Hopefully they really bang around on the blocks and Greg blows a snot bomb on him.

I was thinking Oden could engage in a make out session with Yao . . . Yao could be up for it, since he eats the heads on live shrimp. :D

"Eat the head"

I think we're fine without Oden. At times, his foul trouble can be a distraction. With Frye playing well lately, we're fine. We have a good record without Oden and the one time we beat the Rockets, Oden didn't play.

Just have Greg come in for 2 minutes to uproot Yao in the low post twice and smack his teeth out with a swipe on defense and call it good till game two! Problem solved!

Frye has been doing well at PF not C. There's a big difference and when he's had his most problems is playing C.

Ya, but his fouls is such a distraction!

ARE YOU ON CRACK???? With frye we will be allright?!?!? get a clue! This is the playoffs not the 4th quarter vs denver or OKC in a 30 point blowout! Frye does not have a shot in hell in guarding Yao and is a total liabiltiiy on Offense and Defense. We need every Minute Oden can give us! Him and Joel will be the key to us winning this series. Frye will not sniff the the court or else Joel and Oden are both in really bad foul trouble. And that's just a fact.

I agree with this.

I agree with this.

Put me on your petition.

Sweet Jesus Kingspeed, think about what you just wrote.

Is "probable" better than "game-time" decision?

"Probable" is "game-time" decision. So is "questionable", though, as is "doubtful". I guess we'll find out tomorrow, but I am certain he's going to play.

Learn the game. Then post.
