Jane Says is late 80's which threw me off at first since you said 90's alt. but that is when it got famous.
Wow... it actually was late 80's. I guess with the caveat of "90's alt era," that still applied, but sorry for throwing ya'll off like that. That was a song that I heard as a child all throughout the 90's, like you said, "when it got famous."
I've tried my hand at a few of ya'lls current postings, but I can't crack them. Really interested to see what they are, but in the meantime, since my last one was guessed, here's a song from 1975 (made sure to look up the date this time).
This was a controversial song for a few reasons, but if I said more than that, I'd give it away.
--------------
"There was a shooting in a bar, three men died, and a woman witnessed this after the fact.
I'll tell you the story of the falsely accused athlete.
As the bodies were laying there, a man who was admittedly intending on robbing the bar denied murdered the three men.
The falsely accused athlete was pulled over for being black, distant from the murder scene, because of his race.
Later, after being arrested, this athlete was brought into one of the dying men's hospital room, and even though he could barely see, he said he was not the shooter."
The long, awesome, and controversial narrative continues from there... any guesses?
