The guy rocked as mayor of Oakland, and I appreciate that he's basically honest and truthful as near as I can tell. He's had a long history of public service, so the skeletons in his closet are pretty well known.

I wish democrats everywhere talked like he does in this ad.

Hey, Denny and I agree on something political! Right on!

barfo

No new taxes unless the voters vote for it. Gotta love it.

Decentralize the power from the capital to the people. Gotta love that, too.

Live within our means. What a concept.

Basically, Brown is running as a conservative Republican.

Some people will apparently say anything to get elected. I don't think Jerry Brown believes what he's spouting. He's an old-school liberal, died in the wool.

Really, Denny? Governor Moonbeam has quite a record of spending in CA. You think he's changed? Meg Whitman is more libertarian than social conservative.

Really. He's a democrat with Libertarian leanings who's done extremely well in his public offices the past decade plus.

Jerry Brown just seems like that kooky old grandpa who wants to do everything himself and just won't shut up talking.

No. Pretty much all of Oakland is a shithole. And don't get me started on the murder rate, the racist cops, and the homeless.

Ummm, I know all about Oakland. My brother lived there for 5 years. He lived in the Piedmont area, which is really nice. Allendale Park, Laurel District, Montclair, Oakland Hills and Maxwell Park are all great areas. But, the bad parts of Oakland are BAD...

Anywhere near the flats is bad. I made a wrong turn one night coming back from North Bay and ended up on MLK at about 1 A.M. We stuck out like a sore thumb and I could feel the racial tension as I went into the only gas station that I could find open.

Like every city, its very spotty.

Shit, I think Richmond is worse than Oakland as whole.

Jerry Brown has always been a "populist," meaning that he was always an eclectic blend of liberal and conservative. From that video I see he's the same now except with less hair. I used to read his father's interviews when he was Governor and he had the same personality, though he was a more conventional Democrat. That was when governors still had the freedom to oppose the death penalty, and he did. I liked the father more than the son.

He is at a stage of his life where he is ready to do that? Really?

What stage were you at before Jerry? The tax and spend to the moon stage?

I guess I read into things too much, Harry Reid has an ad here where he blames the economy on foreign oil and CEO greed.

Then at the end they mention the CEO of MGM saying that Sharron Angle is going to hurt our economy so we should vote for Harry Reid.

It seems like simple logic to me that you shouldn't bash CEO greed and then tells us to vote for you because a CEO said so in the same fucking ad.

Well, from that short clip, he seems neat. But sadly, that short clip was the only thing i've ever heard him say.

Really? She is spending $100 million to try and buy the governorship. He's doing it frugally. He's a very smart guy, a public servant, and creative. He's never been a traditional Democrat (not that's there's anything wrong with that!)

She's the big spender and the phony, not he.

Her own money that she made as CEO of a successful private company. Every cent that Jerry Brown has made comes from taxpayers. Now he wants to defund his fellow government employees? I don't believe it. I'm surprised Denny Crane bought it. I'm not surprised that you condone it.

That mess of a state sure needs a new Governor. When is Gray Davis starting the recall petition against Schwarzenbeggar?

No need because there's an election soon? Well that didn't stop the well-funded Republican recall of the Democrat Davis, only 7 months after the voters had elected him. The state's present failure shows how wise that was.

Davis was corrupt and a disaster. He gambled the peoples' money on commodity futures and lost.

I've got no beef with Meg Whitman. Spending her own money is a lot better than spending lobbyists' money, like most of the rest of the politicians.

If Bloomberg ran for president as an independent and spent 1/10th of his wealth ($1.8B) on his campaign, would you make the same complaint? (that he's trying to buy the office)

Oakland has 3 sports teams, some really good eateries, parks, nice homes, people who care about the city and pretty decent weather. It also has some really bad stuff. Every city has crime, racist cops, and homeless people.

Oakland just has more of all the bolded than most cities. I used to work in Oakland earlier last decade. Blech.

Heckuva job, Brownie!

What are the most dangerous cities in the US? CQ Press released the list of the most dangerous cities in their 2009-2010 City Crime Rankings. Camden, New Jersey is ranked number one this year, followed by St. Louis, MO; Oakland, CA; Detroit, MI.

Here is a list of the most dangerous cities in America:

1.Camden, NJ
2.St. Louis, MO
3.Oakland, CA
4.Detroit, MI
5.Flint, MI

Funny that St. Louis is #2. I go to St. Louis every other year and not once have I felt threatened there.

All cities have shitty spots some worse than others, if you live in Tualatin and thats all you've ever known, than sure Oakland is scary.

It doesn't speak to whether the conditions have gotten better or worse, either.

Do they consider E. St. Louis as part of St. Louis? B/c it is pretty bad there.
