Guess who I'm voting for in the California Governor's race?

Do they consider E. St. Louis as part of St. Louis? B/c it is pretty bad there.

They probably could and I agree it is really bad there. But, do they consider Vancouver crime rates when they give off Portland figures?

Watched the first debate.

So far, I agree more with Whitman as to the direction of California. Encourage a more business friendly environment, especially in manufacturing versus "green jobs", which Brown sees as the future. She more closely mirrored my views on illegal immigration/amnesty as well, which I believe also causes problems as well.

hah, some mexican maid is with gloria aldred now. she's an illegal got shitcanned by Meg!

Whitman supports amnesty for illegals. I guess I don't see the big deal.

she saved $10/hour, it cost her $120 million in wasted funds for her election! woot! don't hire the fucking illegals, they'll fuck you over in the end! :devilwink:

Whitman had better hope she kept all of the paperwork. If she did, the illegal immigrant should be jailed for using a stolen SS card and fake ID. The fact that Gloria Allred is involved makes it likely that the maid is a liar.

The political and legal teams for Republican Meg Whitman say they think they have identified the former employee who will appear with Gloria Allred at a news conference Wednesday morning to discuss her employment with the Whitman family.

“Based on the limited information that we have, we believe we know who this former employee is,” said Whitman spokesman Rob Stutzman, who declined to release a name before the press conference.

Whitman attorney Tom Hiltachk told reporters Wednesday: “This person was initially hired by Meg Whitman in November 2000. She filled out standard [Internal Revenue Service] forms and Department of Justice forms and presented her Social Security card and California driver’s license. She filled out immigration forms that stated under penalty of perjury that she was a lawful resident.”

Hiltachk said this woman “worked for the Whitmans for about nine years.”

“On June 20, 2009, this person came to Ms. Whitman and confessed that she was not a legal resident of the U.S. She was immediately suspended and terminated on June 29, 2009,” Hiltachk said.

Stutzman said the timing of the press conference was suspicious, and Allred’s presence made it even more so. Allred has “been a Jerry brown donor since 1982,” Stutzman said.

He said this employee “falsified her employment records” and is being “manipulated by Ms. Allred.”

Stay tuned to PolitiCal for details.

How much does a housekeeper make? This illegal woman started at $23/hour, and taxes were paid on her SS and she has W-2 forms. Seems like a smear attempt by desperate Dems, IMO. I wonder if the maid paid taxes on her W-2? If not, somebody needs to alert the IRS, because she made good money.

Throw a bunch of shit at a wall and see what sticks. I can't say I blame Jerry Brown, because it's a close race.

this will blow up bigtime in Brown's face if that article is accurate

about $10-15 an hour for an illegal. For someone not illegal, its probably $25 or so.

Oh fuck, If i were whitman, I would put Gloria Aldred in a fucking campaign commercial. that would be the BOMB!

Allred won't say how the maid was paid. I bet the Whimans will very soon! lol

So ... anybody think that Attorney General Jerry Brown is going to prosecute this admitted felon?

Illegal maid makes $23/hour, more than most of you! holla!

Oakland has 3 sports teams, some really good eateries, parks, nice homes, people who care about the city and pretty decent weather. It also has some really bad stuff. Every city has crime, racist cops, and homeless people.

It's why my master plan is to move to Bismark. No bad there, except that it has nothing appealing

that Gloria Allred presser was funny as fuck. she took out these poster sized prints and read the shit, looked really pedestrian. she's grasping at straws here. this is the main issue now, deflected the economy and jobs creation nicely. now its all about illegals. the thing is most of the radio and online reaction want to vote for Meg more b/c of this now. too much bad shit with the illegal.

As an ex-Californian, it seems to me that the state tried the outsider-with-a-vision route with Schwarzenegger and look what it got them. What the state needs is someone who understands how government works and how to make government work. Someone who has made government their profession.

That's Jerry Brown.

If a corporation were on the verge of bankruptcy, I hardly think they would bring in an outsider, a professional non-businessperson because they have an"outsiders perspective." That only takes you so far. Skills and experience are more important.

Schwarznegger tried to deal with California's budget, and was smacked down by the Democratic majority in the Legislature. At that point he just gave up. Also, I wouldn't have picked a bodybuilder to run a large organization. Meg Whitman even without E-Bay has a hell of a resume, from P&G to Bain to Disney--these are some of the best management training grounds there are.

In a way, I really hope Brown wins. California is going down the toilet and I think Jerry Brown helped flush it. He should preside over its collapse so he can take some responsibility.

If its one thing that I appreciate from Schwartzy, its his fighting with the california democrats about the budget. It just got passed, if you gave those guys free reign this state would be further and further down the hole. If anything, he should have been more forceful.

I think Arnold has done a fine job, given the circumstances he inherited. Realize the state was spending 2x what it brought in after the various bubbles started bursting, and was in the midst of the Enron and govt. made energy crisis.

He's had to slash budgets, which is what needed to be done. But he didn't do it all at once, causing serious pain for everyone.

The downside is California's economy is in the shitter, but I don't find it his problem. The presidents who made things good for California's economy did extremely well (Reagan, Clinton). California's been treated like the bastard step child since Clinton.

Do you think Green Energy is the path to salvation? This state will be so fucked (more than it is now if that's possible) if Brown wins and prop 23 fails. I don't think Brown is that bad per se, he'll just waste a lot of time chasing green energy jobs by throwing money at it.

also if prop 25 (50% instead of 2/3s to pass a budget) passes, we'll be doubly extra fucked.

Green Energy is a black hole for money. I don't think it's a good idea for govt. to be subsidizing it when it can't balance its books.

That's Brown's recovery plan. Green energy jobs. Since they are unsustainable on their own for quite a while, of course you'll have to subsidize.

Green energy jobs would have been fine with the $800B stimulus money, but with an end to the funding after 5 years or something.

Otherwise, politicians basically say things to get elected and do other things when they have to face the reality of governing.

Jerry Brown on CNN: 1992

"You run for office and, oh, the assumption is, I know what to do. You don't. I didn't have a plan for California.

You say you're going to lower taxes, you say you're going to put people to work, you're going to improve the schools, you're going to stop crime. Crime is up, schools are worse, taxes are higher, I mean be real."

Give him another chance. He admits that he lied last time. :(

Bump!

How many young people are being fooled by a commercial that told you what you wanted to hear.

The proof is out there, but Jerry doesn't want to give the private sector a chance to try in his own life.

39 years on the state dole. How any "independent" could vote for this guy baffles my brain.
