And how do you determine who is a legal citizen without a background check?

You don't, if you're a retailer. You sell stuff that people want to buy, as long as it's legal.

It's none of your business, and certainly none of the government's business.

The very basis of our justice system is that we are all presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Background checks are a form of profiling. Guns are absolutely legal to sell in America. President Obama has sold more weapons in just 6 years than every licensed gun dealer in the history of America has sold. Far, far more. And he sells them to terrorists, drug cartels, our sworn enemies...

And he can't even produce a simple birth certificate, never mind pass a background check.

So if there are no background checks, anyone, not just your "legal citizens" can buy guns. That includes, criminals, illegals and terrorists.

Those guys pass the background checks anyway.

Or they buy a gun that someone stole and filed off the serial number before selling it.

So because criminals, illegals and terrorists might be able to buy a weapon illegally you want to make it easier for them to buy it legally?!? And this makes sense to you? You feel bad that they might miss out on a warranty and rebate?

So we want to make people do more to vote than to be able to buy a gun.

Again, and this makes sense to you?

Never mind, I already know the answer.

I don't want to make it harder for the hundreds of millions of legit gun owners/buyers (period). Especially if it doesn't stop the people you want to stop.

What about drivers? No more drivers licenses because illegals, criminals and terrorists can drive without one? If a drivers license doesn't stop people from illegally driving why have them? It just makes it hard for legal people to drive.

I just looked to be sure. There's nothing about drivers' licenses or cars in the Bill of Rights.

Driving is a privilege. Owning a gun is a right

Can we ban fertilizers too???

No. But we can regulate them, like sensible people would.

In fact, a law regulating ammonium nitrate sales was signed by President George W. Bush 12 years after the Oklahoma City Bombing. The Secure Handling of Ammonium Nitrate Act of 2007 required the licensing of ammonium nitrate facilities and registration for buyers.

“Transactions involving the sale or transfer of ammonium nitrate will be regulated at the point of sale and procedures for reporting a theft or loss of ammonium nitrate will be established,” according to the Department of Homeland Security.

“Each purchaser and seller will be required to apply for an Ammonium Nitrate (AN) Registered User Number with the Department, and each applicant will be screened against the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB).”

I don't need to go to some other country where there are no gun laws that have low crime.

That wasn't where I was inviting you to go. I was inviting you to go somewhere that everyone was armed all the time, because that's your utopia. Someplace like Syria.

Everyone is armed in Vermont too.

Next thing you know, they'll be regulating ball bearings and pressure cookers.

And requiring seat belts and motorcycle helmets.

WHITE PINE, Tenn. (AP) – An 11-year-old boy has been charged with murder after he killed his 8-year-old neighbor, police said, and witnesses say it was because the girl wouldn’t let him see her puppy.

Deputies were called to the neighborhood in White Pine, about 40 miles east of Knoxville, on Saturday night. The boy shot the girl from inside his home with his father’s 12-gauge shotgun, said Jefferson County Sheriff Bud McCoig.

Latasha Dyer told WATE-TV (http://bit.ly/1KWbDPA) her daughter was playing outside when the next-door neighbor asked to see the puppy. McKayla told the boy “no,” and he shot her, Dyer said. A neighbor, Misty Edwards, said her niece was playing with the girl and saw what happened.

“She was a precious little girl. She was a mommy’s girl. No matter how bad of a mood you were in she could always make you smile,” Dyer told the station. “I want her back in my arms.”

The sheriff would not discuss the motive with local media, and the sheriff’s office did not immediately return messages from The Associated Press.

The shooting happened in a neighborhood where all the kids knew each other and played together, McCoig said.

The two children went to the same school, where McKayla was in second grade and the boy in fifth grade. Dyer said the boy had bullied her daughter before, when they first moved to the neighborhood.

“He was making fun of her, calling her names, just being mean to her,” she said. “I had to go the principal about him and he quit for a while, and then all of a sudden yesterday he shot her.”

The boy was scheduled to appear in court on Monday on a charge of first-degree murder. The hearing was closed because he is a juvenile, and authorities have not released his identity to the public.

Another tragic case of poor parenting. Why didn't that little girl's mother make sure she was armed, so that she could defend herself?

She wasn't allowed to carry until she had passed a playground test.

Criminals and terrorists buy their guns on the black market, or steal them.

Those are felony crimes, with serious consequences, and yet that is how nearly all guns used in crimes are obtained.

Maybe you could legislate to outlaw all crime?:dunno:

Maybe you could pay criminals and terrorists to be nice?:dunno:
