In The UK, Guns Aren't The Problem, It's Knives. And The Number Of Attacks Are Surging
Matt Vespa | Jul 18, 2015

Gun ownership is an alien concept with our British cousins across the Atlantic, but that doesn’t mean that violent crime has been reduced. In fact, with no guns readily available, though there are gun crimes in the UK, knives seem to be the weapon of choice. This isn't surprising. The rise in knife attacks has been in the UK press since 2008–and they’ve increased by 13 percent since last year (via Sky News):

Knife crime has increased for the first time in many years, annual crime statistics have revealed.
The figures show there were 1,577 more knife assaults (up 13% from the previous year) and 1,000 more cases of knife possession (up 10%).
Overall, knife crime rose by 2% in the 12 months up to March this year, said the Office for National Statistics.
The ONS [Office for National Statistics] report also revealed that sex offences rose by 37% to the highest figure since 2003, but it suggested this was the result of victims being more willing to report such offences, improvements in police recording methods and a significant number of reported historic sex attacks.
The official figures for all crimes recorded by police show they went up by 3%, with a particular rise of 23% in violence against the person, but the ONS said that was purely because of changes in police recording methods.

In January, the Telegraph reported that violent crime, overall, rose by 16 percent. Yikes:
Violent crime recorded by the police soared by 16 per cent last year to nearly 700,000 offences, new figures show.
Data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) covering the 12 months to the end of September last year showed 699,800 recorded incidents of violence against the person compared with 604,100 offences in the previous 12 months.
The data also showed a new record level of rapes recorded by police in England and Wales.

There were 24,043 rapes in recorded crime figures for the year, a rise of 31 per cent on the previous 12 months and 81 per cent higher than a decade earlier.
The figure beat the 22,000 figures recorded in the previous quarter's data and suggests that continuing confidence in police and the courts is leading growing numbers of rape victims to come forward.
Even in 2008 and 2009, there were reports about the surge in knife crime. In fact, in 2008, the Daily Mail reported that there were 130,000 incidents that year, which averages out to be a knife assault every four minutes.

Concerning homicides in the UK, John Lott of the Crime Prevention Center noted that the rate spiked in Britain once the country ritually outlawed handguns in 1997.

It only began to drop when the UK added more police officers in 2003 and 2004.

Pretty hard to kill 10 people with a knife though

Wrong again.

Knife-wielding attackers kill 29, injure 130 at China train station

Lu Haiyan said the slaughter began while she and a friend were standing in the ticket hall of a Chinese train station.

"Suddenly, many people started running around crazily," she said on Tencent Weibo, a Chinese equivalent of Twitter. "We saw two people carrying big cleavers hacking whoever is in the way. They almost got to my back. Then I lost contact with (my friend) and I saw blood splashing in front of me."

China has executed three accused separatists for their role in an attack that killed 31 people at a train station in the country's southwest last year.

Tuesday's announcement of the execution came six months after Iskandar Ehet, Turgun Tohtunyaz and Hasayn Muhammad, were sentenced to death after being convicted of homicide and leading a terrorist organisation.

A higher court later upheld the sentence, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

The government has said the attack, in the city of Kunming, was carried out by knife-wielding separatists from the far western region of Xinjiang, which is located on the borders of Central Asia.

Police shot four other assailants dead during the knife attack, which injured 141 people on March 1, 2014.

It's much simpler than a gun in every respect, and there are no limiting factors as with guns.

It's easy to carry and wield, easy to conceal, never runs out of ammo, never jams, always hits it's target...

Whether or not someone dies depends only on the attackers basic knowledge of vital organ location.

If not physically stopped by someone, a person with a knife could kill every person on earth, while a person with a gun will eventually run out of bullets.

Okay THIS IS JUST WRONG.

Target: Three animals died from their injuries and nine had to be put down

A farm has fallen victim to two attacks in which 12 cows were stabbed and a barn was set alight.

Three cows died from their injuries immediately, with nine others so badly injured they had to be destroyed following the attack overnight on Tuesday, Manchester Evening News reports.

It comes just two days after the same farm had its barn - containing tractors and four tonnes of hay - set alight in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It has now emerged that at that time an attempt was made to also set fire to the cowshed, but this was unsuccessful.

Police are linking the two attacks on the smallholding in Alt, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, and believe offenders may have returned to kill the cows after their first attempt failed.

They are appealing for people to look out for anyone with heavily bloodstained clothing around the time of the second attack which occurred some time between 9pm on Tuesday and 6.30am on Wednesday.

Detective Constable Rick McIvor said: “Due to the short space of time in which these crimes have taken place, we believe the same offenders are responsible.

“The owner is obviously deeply distressed someone has targeted his business in such a way and cannot believe someone could be so cruel as to kill his animals.

“After the offenders set fire to the barn on Sunday morning, they attempted to torch the cowshed but were unsuccessful.

“For some reason, only known to them, they have returned and killed the cows. “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the local area to contact police as soon as possible.

“The offenders clothing would have been heavily soiled and blood stained and so I would appeal for anyone who finds any discarded clothing to contact the police.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 9260 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Who wants to take your rights away? No one has proposed that guns be banned. Obama believes that people have the rights for "protection, hunting, and sport" but that there should be background checks for people who purchase guns. No one wants to take away the right for people to own guns. We just want to make sure that people who shouldn't have guns don't have guns.
Your candidate has publicly said that she would take all guns away if she had her way.

Guns ARE the problem. They say "guns don't kill people. people kill people." But a crazy white kid with no gun can't kill 10 people in 2 minutes time. If the best he has to work with is a knife, MAYBE he can kill one guy by surprise?

Guns ARE the problem. They say "guns don't kill people. people kill people."

And I'm living proof of that assertion.

I've had all kinds of guns in my presence since the day I was born, and not one of them has killed me, or even taken a potshot at me.

Most posters here would probably try to kill me with their bare hands after only a few days together.

Nah, I met you and you seem like a cool cat. I would only want to shoot your guns! :)
