Gun Control

A nice little topic I get into once in a while. So.Are you for gun control laws, or against? Most of my family members are members of the NRA, and I will join soon enough as well. I hunt, skeet shoot, and target shoot as well. So, obviously I am against gun control. I'll get more into it as soon as we get some people of the other side to join in.So, for or against? In the middle? Don't care either way?

I support Gun control, thats why I use both hands while firing.Ok now that I'm over my hillbillyness(if thats a word) I am against gun control. We the people have a fundamental right to be safe in our persons and possesions, the US constitution grants us these rights as well as the right to bear firearms. However, the government sometimes forgets we have these rights and tries to inforce its will upon us, thats why we need guns. the ability to bear arms has kept us free throughtout our history, and the ability to continue to do so will keep us free into the future.Now there are a lot of groups who are opposed to guns, but some of these groups wants guns gone so they can impose their will without fear of retribution. I support gun control. I don't want to feel scared and un-safe when I walk down the streets at night, and I do. I want to say what's on mind without being scared of being shot by gangster-wannabes. These days people shoot other people for the most stupid things ever.

However, do you really think a gun ban will keep them away from criminals?Drugs are illegal, yet people still get them. Alright, lets say somehow there are no guns in the world. Instead of being shot with a gun walking down the street, you will be stabbed with a knife. Does that make you feel safer?Having a gun ban would be one of the worst possible things. The criminals will still have them, yet the Average Joe doesn't. People will have no fears to break into houses knowing that they are the only ones with the guns. T

I support gun control, because I don't think it should be the primary source of protection. Some say they need guns for protection, but in reality, it is more harmful than protectful. For example, suppose you have a child. They may get bullied at school, find the gun, and shoot up their school. Also, if someone points a gun at you, what the F*ck do you expect to do? Pull out your gun? If someone points a gun at you I doubt there would be enough time to get your own out. Best defense against guns are Krav Maga, which I learn at my Dojo (We just work on Krav Maga once every 2 weeks as it is not a big part of our program) The next best thing, is to run and jump as you're running. As funny as it sounds, it highly reduces accuracy of a shooter. Next thing to do is call the cops. So, there really is no need for guns if you're not in the Military or Police. The only reason not to increase gun control is.. If people increase illegal gun production and consumption due to higher gun control.

I don't know. In the past I would have said I'm against it. However, I don't see what the difference is. It is a right to posess a gun, but that doesn't mean it should be a right for everyone to possess a gun. It doesn't mean it's right for a person to possess any gun. Sometimes it's just senseless to give people guns when they shouldn't have one. It's senseless for people to be able to buy an AK-47. It's a sweet gun, but there's no need for it.Yeah, people will be able to get them even if we place regulations, but it would be best to start rather than to let it get worse.

If people increase illegal gun production and consumption due to higher gun control.</div>sorry but thats just hilarious. responsible gun owners keep their guns away from their children, they also teach their children how to use the firearms correctly. in the 90s there was a study that found that kids who are taught gun safty are 90 times less likely to do something stupid with the guns. and what are the odds that a kid is going to find the correct ammo to go into the gun its parents posses?The best defense against a gun is another gun. you can do what ever little martial arts thing you want, but if I wanted you dead I could pull, draw, shoot, and holster before you knew what happened. Running and jumping isn't going to help. if someone knows how to aim you're dead, if they have a fully or semi automatic they need to just aim and fire and you're dead.From the point of calling 9-1-1 to the response time is on average 12 minutes. the average assult takes about 2.

Responsible people should have the right to own hunting guns and small arms for personal defense. I have no problem with that. I think there should be a complete ban on machine guns and assault weapons.

There is way to even ensure that 100% of the people buying guns are responsible. Utilizing background checks and establishing waiting periods would certainly help. And do we need to sell guns and ammo at Walmart?

Education would solve a lot of these problems. if people knew how to operate their firearms everyone would be a lot safer. I've thought for years that hunters education should be taught in the public school system.Machine Guns were banned for quite awhile, and they would have been banned again had the democrats not gotten to greedy and attached another admendment to the bill which would have banned them. Personally I think they should be allowed. now a automatic weapon isn't for hunting, its for self defense and preservation against a hostil or tyranical government. luckily for us in the US we haven't had a tyranical government yet, but that doesn't mean we wont.

I had a Hunter's Safety when I was in high school. There was a lot of gun safety in that. It wasn't a requirment. One of the teacher's husbands taught it and offered it for free right after school.

Most people don't pay attention in classes, or get bored after 5 minutes. A class won't change the way they are.

Education will prevent a lot of gun crime, it may not stop the true criminals of society but it will stop the villiage idiots.

Exactly. When I was just 5 years old, my dad was teaching me about how guns work, and how they aren't toys. You won't see me using a gun on another person only if they are trying to harm myself, my friends, or my family.

It's cool when people can use guns and teach their kids and all that. But realistically, a lot of parents don't do that. Furthermore, not all kids can simply be taught. Some kids are stupid enough to think it is a toy even when they are told otherwise. Anyway, my point is that you can't expect every family (or individual) to be safe with guns.There are worse things to worry about in this country, like obesity, car accidents, etc. But I do feel that the gun problem is another thing that sets us apart from other nations. I'm not suggesting we abolish guns, but we should try to ameliorate the issue to some extent.
