Guys Neil Olshey passed on to draft Zach Collins

If we could trade CJ - Giannis as both players are right now (as if we’d drafted Giannis and have our current roster swapping the two) we would be winning the championship this year 150%; probably next year too.

Dame
Giannis
Melo
Whiteside
Nurkic

I put Giannis at the 2 because he’s more of a ball handler than Melo. That lineup has so much length/defensive potential.

Best S5 in the NBA no Contest.
Giannis hasn’t gone any further in the playoffs than CJ.

Why are we bashing Collins? This was his 1st year as our starting PF and we were 8-3 in the 11 games he played. Give him a full season at starting PF before calling him a bust.
  1. The guy plays with oven mitts on his hands.
  2. He goes up soft and constantly gets blocked in the paint.
  3. He can’t stay on the court due to foul trouble or injury. The best ability is availability.

I'm kind of shocked with the negativity directed to Zach the player.

Maybe the 10th pick was a horrible price to acquire him.

But thats a sunk cost over 3 years old completely irrelevant to improvements of the team going forward.

I look at Zach the player now the same as if he was an undrafted G league player we signed and can now extend this summer.

Zach had nothing to do with the decision to draft him at what spot. That is a judgment that should only be reflected in Neil's job performance.

It seems like some fans just want a Blazer player to rip on personally.

You must have missed the title of this thread.

While we're torturing ourselves, let's imagine we kept #s 15 and 20 as well as 26. What's the best three we could've ended up with?
I'm going to say:
Jarrett Allen
OG Anunoby
Monte Morris (Flint!)

Sacramento fucked up worse than us in trading with us instead of taking Bam.

John Collins
OG Anunoby
Kyle Kuzma

but Adebayo and Kuzma would be better

so would Mitchell and Kuzma

I wanted to trade the picks for an actual piece.

My dream is to have Bam in a Portland uniform. My dreams never come true.

He sucks dude you can just tell. He’s no Bam

I think Zach is talented and has a big upside....but reality is he's been fragile and hasn't made the leap Trent made this season yet....he might healthy but do you wait 2 more years for him to click and develop him or bank on Lillard's prime and get a veteran big to help contend over the next 2 years....it's a valid question moving forward...he's either going to break out or be damaged goods...thing is we just don't know yet.

I wonder if this was kind of the discussion before trading Jermaine O’neil for dale davis

People sitting here calling Zach Collins fragile seem to have forgotten just how many times Anthony Davis was out with an injury.
Shoulder injuries and ankle/foot injuries happen to big men in the NBA.
In all actuality Zach has had a couple injuries. One of them required surgery on his shoulder and then this latest foot injury is pretty mild.
Calling him fragile is just plain crazy talk.

I think if you look at last season he played a few games and was out all season....then came back fully healed and was out or the playoffs after a few games.....it's fair to use the adjective...that's not saying Anthony Davis isn't fragile too....Nurk doesn't look that way at all..it may be a fluke..Zach may become an ironman Jermaine O'neil type player...I hope so if we keep him

I was just looking for your post about this........ on DRAFT DAY!

Fam, maybe you getting old, but stop being a homer. Zach Collins is trash. Availability is the best ability. Stop riding for weak ass players that think they hard. We coulda had Bam. We coulda had John Collins. Fuck Zach Collins

No reason it should have been? According to Sheed and Grant, Jermaine tote them up in practice.

You can't tell me those 2 players would have done any better in our system. Both would have rode the bench the first year in the pros under Stotts due neither couldn't shoot the 3. Bam didn't break out until this year and Collins play for a basement team since he been in the league. So don't tell me they would be any more successful if they play for us. Zach didn't have a good year due to injuries this year and we don't know he been playing on bad ankle that limit his movements. But he kind show what kind of player he was in the playoffs last year because we wouldn't properly wouldn't made it to WCF without that defense he played against Denver. Just because a player don't score 20 points a game don't mean he a bad player and if that's what your criteria is to be a good player that your telling me you don't know crap about the game.

You sound like me after the first couple Oden injuries. Keep the faith, brother!
