I heard Halo 3 was the same thing as the previous games...

Yup, boring and repetitive. I never actually played the first two games, so I'm not sure on the story. But Halo 3 does a horrible job telling its story. Its story makes less sense than Perfect Dark Zero.

And I'm not a graphics whore or anything, but these graphics are inexcusable. They are about the same as Perfect Dark Zero's...a launch title.

Bungie really dropped the ball here. The game will still sell many XBOX's, but the gamers like me will know that the game really sucks. Too bad there is no Banjo Threeie coming out to make theere a worthwhile 360 exclusive for the rest of the year. I'll probably shelf Halo 3 on Tuesday, and hardly touch it, playing mostly NBA 2k8 (and I'm not a big fan of that series either, last great one was 2k3).

How can you just say all these negative things about the Halo franchise and then say you have never played any of the games? Obviously Bungie is doing something good with Halo 3 as is it holds the record for the best single day sales and scoring near perfect reviews across the board, me personally I love the Halo franchise and think it brings in alot of replay value with its addictive multiplayer and fun campaign. Now im not saying that you have to like Halo 3 because maybe FPS or Sci-Fi games are not genres you enjoy but give credit where it is due and hopefully you could play through the campaign and realize that the graphics are actually really good and that the story is actually pretty decent to deter from senseless killing.

I played Halo 3. Just not Halo CE or Halo 2. Halo 3 isn't that great of a game so far for me. Gears of War just sweeps the floor with Halo 3, campaign wise, graphics wise, story wise (and it was a basic story too), etc.

I tend to agree with what the IGN guys said in their review:

Closing Comments
Cam: So where does all this leave us? With a game that is worth playing, no question, but that – for me at least – is a long way from game of the year. If you’re a Halo or Halo 2 multiplayer whore you may feel differently, as the Campaign will be the icing on a delicious multiplayer cake stuffed with maps, modes, replays and options galore, but for me the actual gameplay itself – potential aside – simply doesn’t warrant a 9. It’s very close, but not quite there. Care to bang out a Conclusion Bennett?
Bennett: Hang on a second Cam, I’m just on the phone to a security firm. See, we’re going to need personal bodyguards for at least the next month, because I agree with you that this isn’t quite a 9/10 game. There’s no denying how awesome the replay and Forge features are – but they’re not the core of the game. Don’t get me wrong, the single player campaign is very strong, the action is tight, and the AI is F.E.A.R.-killing. But for every positive, there was an area of the game that left me wanting more – the backtracking, the overly cheesy storyline, the underwhelming visuals. And multiplayer feels too much like a HD-version of Halo 2 with a few gadgets you can toss around. Which to Halo fans is fine – but compared to other online shooters, I get the feeling that Halo 3 is staying a little too close to its roots. It doesn’t really matter what you or I think Cam – Halo 3 will still sell more copies in the first second of release than all of the games ever created in the history of electronic entertainment combined. But does that make it the best game on the 360? I think not.

8.9 for Halo 3....right after that, they gave SKATE a 9.3, BioShock 9.5, Gears of War a 9.4.

Halo 3 is an alright game...but for all the hype, and expectations, for it not to be game of the year quality, is a resounding disappointment.

The AI in the single player campaign is horrible. In Mission 7, the idiot AI kept driving off the cliff, so I couldn't do that part manning the turret of the Warthog. Instead I had to jump off, shoot a guy on a Ghost with a shotgun, and use the Ghost to get to the part with the 2 spider thingies. Thats horrible. Not sure how crap like that got out of the studio. The vehicle portions of the game have all been horribly unfun. The first two missions are such a waste. The action picks up in mission 4, and thats good, but when you compare it to a game like GOW, in which the single player campaign is so memorable, with great graphics and environments, and then give XBOX quality graphics, with a campaign that you will want to forget, its very hard to be satisfied dropping $60 for this game. I'd be even more disgusted if I dropped $460 for this game and a 360, because Halo 3 isn't that good.

BioShock, Kameo, Oblivion and Gears of War are on my shortlist of games for others to buy before Halo 3.

Halo 3 is just a nudge better than PDZ imho.

You make a valid point, the AI of your soldiers is sometimes really bad but I only played co-op so far so none of the AI drove the warthog for me so it was alright...yes the graphics could be better but theyre still an upgrade over Halo 2. About the campaign, no it didnt really blow me out of the water like Halo CE did and GoW did but it was still fun to play and was well worth the $$ for me as the hidden skulls give alot of replay value and the multiplayer on XBL is second to none along with the countless of possibilites using the Forge. As for sales between Halo 3 and GTA4, I dont think GTA stands a chance...not saying the game isnt going to be as great as Halo 3 but the buzz for it just wont be there as it was for Halo 3 cause Bungie pretty much had the support of Microsoft to advertise the crap out of Halo so I doubt GTA will be able to create that large amount of buzz for their game.
