Also, I love the GTA series, but it won't surpass Halo in terms of sales or media attention. And probably not critical acclaim, either, with Halo 3 currently pulling down a sickening 9.5 on Gamespot (second only to Gears at 9.6) and the same rating at IGN.

Halo and GTA both have "M" for mature ratings but the market for Halo pulls in younger and casual gamers. The adult-oriented and time consuming content in GTA results in a smaller market.

GTA will still be a big game, especially if they take the time during this delay to really deepen the content, but I don't see it having the widespread appeal of Halo.

Do you mean overall? If you mean short term, I don't believe the delay will really help them add content that will get the gamer to buy it right away. Overall, GTA WILL sell more than Halo 3 (GTA3, GTA:VC and GTA:SA have all sold between one and two million copies more than Halo 2). GTA benefits from being multiplatform a lot, but it's not something everyone has to have on the frist day. I don't think.

I could be wrong, I dunno.

In Japan the sales of 360's spiked when Halo was released, so I think that is an indicator that people are buying the system to play Halo. Will all those same people buy GTA when it comes out? Will people buy a 360 because they want to play GTA?

I'm a bigger GTA fan than I am a Halo fan so I wish Rockstar the best, but so far I am just not sensing the buzz for GTA4 that was there when San Andreas and Vice City came out.
